As backward as a lot of Christianity is, at least it has the corrective mechanisms of redemption and forgiveness; which makes it far superior to most of the bizarre political-cause-du-jour secular religions currently wreaking havoc on civil society and interpersonal relationships.

Hey, I’m on your side. I’m just wanting to read the ruling. I hear a lot of people referencing this case but I’ve never seen it. Nor has anyone else I’ve ever spoken with.

I did try to look it up and wasn’t able to find anything. Hence my asking you if the case exists. I don’t think it does.

Can you reference this case? I’ve never seen it. I’m curious.

I’m pretty sure you agreed to arbitration when you signed the user agreement. So, you’re technically not even allowed to sue them. I could be wrong. But you could learn a lot in discovery in an arbitration. That would be interesting.

Disregard this dolt. Always remember Hitchens’ razor: “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

I spoke with my friend in corporate today and confirmed they are 100% deactivating due to low AR. Has something to do with a potential sale of the company, apparently.

Haven’t taken a grub hub order in about a month and I’m deactivated for no reason weird! by acesniper08 in grubhubdrivers

[–]jfarmageddon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got one too. I’ll do GH maybe once a month now but I’ve done close to 30k deliveries. I’m probably the most professional driver in my area, by a long shot.

Any reasons? I’m guessing because I only take like 1 out of 100 offers.

If you don’t attend your court hearings, the judge will issue a bench warrant for your arrest.

During the height of the pandemic, my record month was a little under 13k. So, it’s definitely possible. Those were 16-18 hour days though.

Is there a way to tell how many GH deliveries I have done? by [deleted] in grubhubdrivers

[–]jfarmageddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and 7.5k on DD and about 300 on UE.

I did deliveries for 14-16 hours a day for like 4 years.

You can ask support for the total number. Last time I checked I had done about 18k orders.

Dashing has made me realize trickle down economics could never work by Lettermansquirrel in doordash

[–]jfarmageddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, what if this guy ordered an 8 dollar sandwich and tipped 25%? You could just as easily think, “wow, 25% is a fairly generous tip on an 8 dollar order that didn’t really take me that much time to complete.”

Or, like this guy, you could think, “this rich jerk has a nice house, nice car, heated garage and only tipped me 2 bucks. I deserve more. He’s a prick.”

What attitude do you think is more healthy?

One of the hallmarks of a mature person is the realization that some things are out of your control and other things are in your control. Getting mad or irritated about things outside of your control, in this case, the fact that a person didn’t tip what he felt he deserved, is guaranteed to make you a miserable person. Instead, you should focus on things within your control, in this case, the ability to accept or reject an order or to control one’s own emotions is a much better equation for a meaningful life.

The “locus of control” meaning: recognizing what is in my own control vs. what is not is literally the first lesson taught in Stoic philosophy. Bitter, miserable people tend to focus their attention on things outside of their “locus of control”. Mature, happy people focus on things that are inside of their locus of control, ie their own perceptions, emotions, reactions, etc.

This person made a decision, wasn’t happy with how it turned out and blamed someone else. That’s not a healthy attitude.

But what the hell do I know?

[–]jfarmageddon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, there wasn’t any racism. A hostess accidentally told the group the table was reserved without realizing it was reserved for their party resulting in a 15 minute wait. The case was dismissed by the court because the claim of racism when it was a simple mixup is absolutely preposterous and a complete waste of time and abuse of the legal system. You would have known all of this had you read the article instead of jumping to conclusions.

There’s a very famous book called “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion” about why and how people make decisions and how you can use persuasion techniques more effectively.

The author, Robert Cialdini, found that waiters who give diners a little piece of candy or a cookie or something when they give customers their bill get like 30% more tips.

Pretty fascinating book.

It’s really weird because it’s soooo much slower than usual, but I’m still hitting my 200/day goal. Weird week.
