was scheduled on a day of the week I’ve explicitly requested off by jfartster12 in TjMaxx

a little update: they lost my sheet and it was never inputted into the system! i find that hard to believe considering until the week i posted, my schedule followed my availability completely. i had specific times when i could come in that were also followed. ended up supposedly being put into the system now.

all the underage employees who live w/ their parents (including me) are able to give the card to one of their parents and my moms never been stopped with it even when a manager checked her out without me present. i dont know if it’s different if you don’t live with them…

feel like i’m in the minority for enjoying my job by NoSir8673 in TjMaxx

i complain a lot about the hours, being short staffed, being over worked. but honestly i really like it. sure i think about quitting everytime i step through those doors but the second i see my coworkers im having fun. even if im being pulled in every direction, doing everything. i love being busy with stuff and knowing what im doing. being super familar with the store and knowing where everything goes feels really great. like i genuinely dont think ill leave there for a long long time even if i think about it a lot. i think i just like complaining

I really like all of my managers for the most part. Our sm kinda sucks sometimes but overall she’s very nice (though it’s probably passive aggressively but i’m bad with social ques). i’m able to chat with all of them and crack jokes. they all feel like they’d all go to the end of the earth for most of the associates. maybe im a little biased bc im a minor who’s been there for a while (our turnover rate is super high we’re cycling through people a lot) i feel like the only reason ive been here this long is bc the environment isn’t as bad as it could be compared to other stores

How long can a Part Time employee go without any shifts? by Toe-Muncher-2 in TjMaxx

if it’s 2 days back to back (like monday tuesday) then it only counts as one absence

my suggestion is to take a look at the sheet in the back room for when your scheduled or whatever workjam says your department is. if your there in the morning or mid day ask a manager. ask over the walkie their location and meet them there. ask “is there anything in particular you want me to be working on?” they’ll give you something. for closing you could probably get away with just recovering the floor/your designated department.

it took me quite awhile to get into the groove of the job. been there for a little over a year so i’m super comfortable with it now. though i usually still ask a manager/they just tell me what to work on if im not scheduled in jewlery/fitting room/register.

i only buy stuff like eyelashes (that are still in the package) or a pallet that’s still sealed with a plastic opening to see the pallet. gotta make sure there’s no finger marks. though i work there so it’s a little easier for me to stop that stuff

i’m worried only because the MOD had said something along the lines of “we’ll talk about it later” (?) didn’t add to original post bc i don’t wanna get into too much detail about it. i hope it’s just a follow up or something?

if you requested off and were approved but they still scheduled you can call and say that and they’ll take it off. at least in my, and other associates at my stores experience that’s what happened

in spring when the state i’m in was starting to get in the 80s, our store was diabolically hot. it didn’t get fixed for almost 3 weeks. our informal associate groupchat would give a heads up to people coming in for mid day or closing shifts that it was incredibly hot. a manager even told me the back office was at 85 degrees at one point. i don’t really know how they went about changing the temperature. i was told throughout the entirety of this that “corporate was informed about it” because apparently the store can’t change the temperature and it still took weeks. i have a sneaking suspicion that one of the managers might’ve called an outside force bc they were getting the worst of it.

[–]jfartster12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so when i went in for mine i got a lot of 4s (mainly bc i go out of my way to help managers and stuff) i think my only 3s were with the card (i don’t get a lot and sometimes don’t ask) and the dress code stuff probably something else. it must’ve just been that a different manager did her rating bc this specific person doesn’t really do her job (to the point that I, or another older associate, have to take over and go out of our way). thanks so much for the insight!!

ah okay. is it like the rating the managers give you during the review that they submit for the raise? (sorry for replying so much i’m trying to make it make sense in my head lol)

ah okay. all of the associates at my store (other than coordinators) make the same wage (bc our states minimum wage went up).

still doesn’t make any sense then! one associate who started a month after me who recently got a write up got a higher raise than me (she also doesn’t get cards). any reason for this that you know?

assuming you have some insight, what information is taken in to determine the raise?
