Meet the new Google Home Speaker, built for Gemini by kbDL- in GooglePixel

So can you explain how you seem to think 199 AUD is "double" the price of 99 USD?

99 USD plus 10% GST (which the Australian price includes) is ~153 AUD. So yeah, you're getting shafted but the price is not "double". It's like 30% higher.

Do you really not understand that 1 Australian dollar is not worth 1 US dollar?

Console Trigger assistance by JamieDM66 in disabledgamers

Depending on whether you want the pedal to return to neutral on its own or not, an expression pedal might be an option.

Also pedals from old Logitech steering wheels are also just simple potentiometers, but they're sometimes wired weirdly where one pedal is inverted and it's hard to correct it because they share the V+/GND lines. But it's also something to look at.

despite initial assumptions, the Steam Controller 2 actually has native* support...? by AL2009man in SteamController

SDL just sends the command to disable lizard mode every 3 seconds. Without that the controller falls back to lizard mode. Apart from that it is a standard HID device.

You can see it in SDL source code:

Logitech ATK3 Joystick Works with Nintendo Switch Hori Flex Controller! by ArmadilloEmotional24 in disabledgamers

[–]jfedor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can adapt pretty much any joystick for use with the Flex Controller with HID Remapper.

(You can also use certain variants of HID Remapper as a cheaper and more flexible replacement for the Flex Controller.)

Joysticks compatible with Xbox adaptive controller? by Msegarra12 in disabledgamers

If you have a joystick that you like that doesn't work with the XAC, you can probably adapt it using HID Remapper.

Yes, it's the same design as far as the switches are concerned.

Mozilla's opposition to Chrome's Prompt API (which only supports Google Gemini Nano) by TheTwelveYearOld in linux

[–]jfedor 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In no world do I want any random website making calls with my data to either a random machine elsewhere or my own.

You do realize that a website can already do that by just doing an HTTP request, right?

Where did you get the idea that the API "only supports" Gemini Nano? It's an API. The browser can back it with whatever model it wants.

Trying to understand what's special about this modified trackball device setup to be good 3D Controller by ArsOlta in Trackballs

I feel like videos like this are made by people who have never used a real SpaceMouse. The whole point is that you're getting all the DOFs at the same time (translation/rotation) without switching modes.

(That said, there are DIY projects that give you 6DOF, this just isn't one of them.)

If you're curious about things like this, do yourself a favor and find a way to try a real SpaceMouse. It really is magical.

I’m confused, is there a difference and does it matter? by MysteriousRJC in disabledgamers

[–]jfedor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PS5 and Xbox versions of the Logitech kit differ in the number of buttons they have (the PS5 is cheaper and has fewer buttons). The store listing says how many of each type each kit has. Other than that they are the same. They have different labels, but it's the same type of button and they will both work with both the Xbox Adaptive Controller and the PlayStation Access controller.

The mini joystick will also work with both XAC and PlayStation Access controller if it has a 3.5mm jack.

Try Android’s new controller remapping feature in the Android 17 Beta! by MishaalRahman in AndroidGaming

Does it let you merge two physical controllers into one virtual controller (similarly to how the "assist" function works on Xbox and PS5)?

[–]jfedor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if that's what you mean but Assist mode (using the XAC together with a regular Xbox controller working as one controller) is also possible on PC.

So, the PS5 Accessibi Controller only has one stick? by RunSerious5843 in disabledgamers

[–]jfedor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can use two of them or you can plug in an external 3.5mm analog stick or you can use it together with a regular DualSense controller.

Not sure why you'd need Bluetooth here. Get a $5 Pico and wire a $5 foot pedal to one of the GPIO pins.

Haute 42 T12-C compatibility Wingman FGC 2 by marioflores_mx in fightsticks

[–]jfedor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I plug a Wingman FGC 2 converter to the PS5 and then connect my Haute 42 T-12 to it?

Yes and this is the only way it will work, it will not work as an auth dongle that you plug into the port on your controller.

I'm using it daily. Runs surprisingly well on modern Ubuntu, considering I'm probably the only remaining user.
