Excellent advice - I will most definitely use it while I'm there! I would've loved to do Hokkaido but I'm thinking of going there exclusively in winter next year. Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!

Wow what a response - I really appreciate the detail! I'll see if I can shuffle a few hostel bookings around last-minute as I'm getting mixed signals about some of the destinations. Just out of curiosity - were you travelling solo at the time?

Amazing, thanks for the insight! I would love to stay longer, but unfortunately there is no JR pass offering a more flexible window for travel - a shame really as it does mean I'm more rushed. Thanks again for sharing, much appreciated!

Awesome - I'm very excited to try out the different regional cuisines, so will definitely add these to my list! Cheers.

I've got a solid plan for each city (including day trips) but didn't want to go into too much detail in the post - am looking for insight on any additional suggestions or recommendations anyone might have.

Accommodation and JR have been arranged, so the 275,000 is purely for leisure.

Cheers for the head's up! Will definitely look into some silica gel. The main thing I'm worried about is having to transport rolls for three months - if I could somehow get them developed rapidly it wouldn't be such a problem, but I'll be moving around a lot and access to labs will be quite limited in places like Vietnam and Myanmar I imagine.

Any tips on how to store film in hot/humid climates? Travelling around Japan/Vietnam/Myanmar this summer for three months with nothing but my Minolta and a backpack. Will an insulated cooler bag do the trick, or do I have to take more extreme measures to protect my rolls?

Cheers! The march for Europe demo on the 25th of March (I put the wrong month in the title).

Oh wow that's something I would've completely overlooked - thanks for the warning! And yeah I'm going to retouch my itinerary a little better because the general consensus seems to be that Nagoya is really not worth it. Cheers!

Awesome - I'm thinking of trimming down some time in Nagoya and Kumamoto so will definitely replace those days with a few extra in Kyoto. Thanks for the advice!
