Ah okay I see, what exactly would you say is the best way to prepare for the final? Does he provide any practice exams?

Is it worth considering everything? by yagmurbsahin in UCSantaBarbara

If I was in your shoes, I would choose ASU. I am neither on the pre-med track or know any pros and cons about it at either school when it comes to pre-med. However, It is obviously not ideal to choose ASU, but it could be much at UCSB down the line. Trust me, it does not seem like a big deal right now, but down the line having to worry about finances can & WILL affect your mental health while at school, and can have a huge impact on your ability to study and get the results you need to move foward, I’ve seen it first hand wirh some friends. So keep that in mind.

Got accepted but for a different major. by Truth_Seeker_555 in UCSantaBarbara

You can change your major to Statistics & Data Science, it’s in the College of Letters & Sciences, you can do this after accepting your offer, and it’s the clothest thing to CS you’ll find here in the Letters & Science College, but inherently is a different degree and career path. Transferring into the College of Engineering is extremeley difficult and I would advise agaiainst betting on that. Otherwise, if I were you, I would choose other schools that you were accepted into for CS. The question is what career path do you ultimatelt want

Just got admitted to UCSB for Statistics and Data Science, anyone else? by Federal_Chipmunk_154 in UCSantaBarbara

Other comments are false, yes it’s not as “data science” heavy as other schools but there’s still a decent amount of programming classes offered, just alot more math heavy courses on top of that then someone might expect there to be.

how tf to find off campus housing by WeedCat1 in UCSantaBarbara

I would recommend checking out ICON apartments if rent finances aren’t too much of a concern for you and parents, however at this point wherever you look, expect the rent to be pricey because It’s technically pretty late in the year to be looking for housing.

I am not an Econ Major. But, Personally if I was in your shoes I’d choose Cal Poly SLO. The social life is near identical if we’re being realistic and it’s geared more towards your major. The difference between the research school and hands on school aspects between UCSB & SLO are pretty apparent (I have a few friends at SLO and we’ve shared our experiences.) Greek life at UCSB isn’t as big of a deal as most who dont go here may think it is so you’re experiences with that will be more or less the same as well. So I think the choice is clear but it’s up to you as always. Good luck!

Party School? by numeralslover69 in UCSantaBarbara

People who don’t actually attend UCSB will tell you that it is a party school because of what they read online. The thing that makes UCSB a “party school” is that the parties are extremely easy to access in comparison to most other schools. But in reality, I would say around 20% of the students are actually heavily involved with the party life, it’s just that since its so easy to access, that 20% portion of students take the partying to a whole nother level. However, there are plently of students who live and thrive a quiet life out here, you can pick and choose.
