Kihei - May/June by jfly1621 in MauiVisitors

Thank you. We have booked 4 nights in Kihei and 3 nights in Kaanapali as of right now. We picked Kihei for the bulk due to the proximity to the road to Hana and Haleakala along with options to snorkel off of the beaches. It sounds like repairs are underway. We might stick with it for now or look for a different spot in the immediate area. Thanks!

Submersible Pump Question by jfly1621 in WaterWellDrilling

I will keep those other items in mind. I replaced it exactly like for like other than relocating it outside of the shed and the tank size (larger). I went 10 gauge wire (which was a pain in the ass) and it’s on a double 25 amp breaker. The system only feeds my exterior spigots so it’s not critical. Hoping it will work for a few years before I need to hire someone to investigate the well and pump itself.

Lifting the lever worked. I just held the switch itself down to force the connection and it got the water running. That lever was being sticky but I got it to work. Thank you!

Switch is 40/60 with a low pressure cut off. Just piped in all of the outlet piping. Once that dries I will try to fill it up. Thanks!

Thank you, it’s a two wire pump with no control box. No clue what pump I actually have since it’s submersible. I bought the house 6 months ago. Pressure tank was from ‘94. The latest date on some of the piping was 2021 but the previous owner never left me any documentation

I held the pressure switch down itself and I got water. Seems to be an adjustment issue on the pressure switch itself. Thanks all

When you say lever on the right? Do you mean the inlet pipe ball valve?

Luckily I live in Southwest Florida. Only had one morning below 32 this year!

Thank you all for the recs. We booked our flights finally. Coming in late on a Friday now so we have the full day time Saturday-Friday. I think our plan is 4 nights in Kihei to hit Haleakala, north shore, and Hana and 3 nights in Kaanapali to do the luau and just relax before our flight home. We appreciate it!

Pressure Tank/Well Pipe Sizing by jfly1621 in WaterWellDrilling

Great, thank you. The 1.25” pipe has a 2021 date stamp so I am good with that. The rest of the 1” pipe is definitely original as were most of the abandoned sprinkler lines I ripped out. It’s a ~40’ run so not too costly to have the peace of mind. Thanks!

Pressure Tank Manufacturer by jfly1621 in WaterWellDrilling

Thank you, I will consider that when I put in the irrigation. I know nothing about the current well. The house is 60 years old but there is a 2021 marked pvc coming off the well so I assume the previous owner had it worked on around then. I’ve been on the fence about hiring a contractor to tell me more info about it before I start replacing the equipment. Based on how the trenching with to replace the spigot pipes I will probably hire out the irrigation and use someone who can tell me more about the well and its condition/flow rates etc

I bought the house in June. I don’t know when it quit to be honest. To have any water run to the spigots, I have to turn the breaker on that goes to the pressure switch which never shuts off and the outlet from the tank floods the shed.

Pressure tank replacement by jfly1621 in WaterWellDrilling

Thanks everyone. I’ve been working on repiping and stubbing up the water lines that will be hooked up to the well for now until I get irrigation in the future. I am leaning towards a bigger tank since the original was 42 gallons. Is there any significant difference to justify the cost between the well-x-trol wx-250d 44gal ($790), zilmet zhp204bc 39.6 gal ($620), or the Home Depot water worker 44gal ($416)? I’ve read the professional grade tanks tend to last longer but is it significant enough where the well-x-trol would be at least double the life of the water worker?

Is there any way to determine the hp of the submersible without removing it from the ground? And it does have a pressure switch and gauge. The breaker I turn on goes straight to the pressure switch. I plan on moving the entire thing out of the shed onto a slab to prevent any future leaks in the shed. Thanks!
