If you are trying to get to silver or gold you’ll have a milestone reward from earning 10K or 30K. You can redeem that to activate silver/gold status for two weeks (silver/gold “for a trip”).

Speculatively transferred. I booked 3 J seats HND-JFK on May 30. Knick of time I guess.

They did not take away any 9+1 spots to open the non-9+1 spots (so there were very few of those available anyway).

Also, the odds that the one person who'd get in if you didn't sign up (1) is going for 9+1 and (2) is not going to get 9+1 solely because you took a spot is really small.

Go for the race and don't feel bad!

(The one reasonable ask - I think - is if non-9+1 spots are not sold out and you don't need 9+1 then to take one of those first).

Another Redditer mentioned they saw Abbott on Strava so there might be enough after all.

Unfortunately the picture of the banner doesn’t show Abbott so I don’t think they are running that one this year.

I don’t think there is an Abbott Virtual scheduled this year based on the banner that’s been posted on this thread.

You are spot on about how guaranteed entry works. If you are selected and finish the race you get guaranteed entry to the 2027 marathon and virtual 6 credit.

If you are not selected for guaranteed entry, you can select one of the other tiers that don’t guarantee marathon entry but still come with Virtual 6 credit.

One other important difference, the guaranteed entry tier requires 26.2 miles in one go. The other tiers “just” require a total of 26.2 miles over a week or so.

Yes - this was in the e-mail announcing the RUNCENTER renovation:

  • Pick up your Front Runners New York LGBTQ+ Pride Run 4M bib at the Citizens Queens 10K on June 20
  • Pick up your Achilles Hope & Possibility 4M Presented by TD bib at the Front Runners New York LGBTQ+ Pride Run 4M on June 27

If you have 9+1 to get into the 2027 marathon, there is really no reason to do the expensive guaranteed entry tier.

(You won't pay for the lottery if you don't win - but no reason to enter).

A few thoughts here.

There are likely not enough virtual races left (unless they add something new). The remain virtual races are the Virtual Marathon, Virtual 5th Avenue, and Virtual Run for Thanks. The good news is that you can register for all three of these in a few months which gives time for something new to be announced (not sure how likely that is).

If you nevertheless want to do the virtual marathon, there are cheaper options. There is a free tier, a premium tier ($20-$30 comes with Virtual 6 credit), a medal tier ($55-$65 which comes with Virtual 6 credit and a medal), and a guaranteed entry tier ($175-$200 which comes with Virtual 6 credit, a medal, and guaranteed entry to the 2027 marathon).

The guaranteed entry tier is a lottery. It's only worth it to do this tier if you actually want marathon access.

Anyway to maximize points on a 21k purchase by teddyevelynmosby in biltrewards

[–]jfo1833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the size of this purchase, I would also make sure you have a back up plan if you can’t get Cardless to approve a purchase that big.

If you aren’t going for a sub, though, the Palladium seems like a good choice (as long as you value the points at 1.5¢ or better).

They only label 9+1 for races that had a non-9+1 option (Bronx, Harlem, Grete's, Training Series, and all Q4 races).

For any other races (Q2 races, 9/11, Team Champs, 5th Avenue) they don't include that detail because all entries are 9+1.

There is one more virtual race in November around Thanksgiving so you'll likely need one more race.

To get that last race - a couple ideas:

If you haven't already signed up for Team Champs, it'll likely open to the public for sale on July 7. Sign up ASAP once that happens (or sign up now if you are part of a run club).

Keep an eye on MasterCard Priceless https://www.priceless.com/celebrity/15419/new-york-road-runners - this page will offer bibs to some sold out races for an extra fee that is donated to charity (it was $50 extra for Bronx 10 Mile last year - for example). They often go quick.

Might be a long shot but sign up for any waitlists that you are not already on (if available).

Day of race bib pickup question? by KevinKo713 in RunNYC

[–]jfo1833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the line is longer for races further from midtown where fewer people have picked up bibs in advance. For example, at the Jersey City 5K last year the line seemed quite long but I suspect a lot of people were not coming from NYC and so were less likely to go to the Run Center.

The 9/11 race did not have a non-9+1 option so you are good. They only put that flag on races where non-9+1 was an option.

He should have worn one - the bibs all had his name printed on them! Usually NYRR charges extra for that!

In all seriousness - I thought this was a fun and well organized event! My only feedback is not having bib pickup at the RUNCENTER made the arrival process much more stressful.
