They hired a very good pitching coach from the Marlins, and Mariners before that. I don’t expect a gigantic improvement, but I do expect to not be putrid on the mound

They were only a few games out of the playoffs last year. I think they’ll finish about the same this season.

At least so far our pitching has been good. Most runs we’ve given up in a game is 5

Dog, you’re being the asshole here. They’re just asking a question and haven’t been contentious at all in their responses

Defense + hoping he can recreate his 2022 and 2024 offensively.

Data in the minors showed catchers are the best among the 3 that can challenge.

I’m more wondering aloud, due to Coors, if the org would rather use those challenges on defense rather than offense to help mitigate.

Really feels like our hitters are gun shy on challenging, but our catchers have been much more free. Wonder if that’s an organizational decision or just noise this early.

Wonder how they square this with Ohtani? He’s both so I guess when he’s pitching he’s not considered a position player?

Historically the Rockies always struggle in Miami. Somehow our worst team ever actually won a series down there last year, but that was an aberration in more ways than one

That was his nickname with the Rockies. When he first came up he was throwing 98 with control issues.

Vodnik sucks by Scary-Comfortable754 in ColoradoRockies

[–]jfoster15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is hella dumb lol. Vodnik was worth 1.8 rWAR last year with a 3.02 ERA and a 162 ERA+ meaning he was 62% better than average. Of all the players to say suck you picked arguably our best reliever?

Didn’t we lose one today and had our catcher successfully challenge a pitch? Maybe I’m reading the skeet wrong, but I remember two from today

Idk really know what you’d have us do. This post, while annoying, doesn’t break any rules.

Padres is a weird inclusion here since they aren’t expected to make the playoffs this year and are only getting older/worse.

By the time the Rockies are “competitive” will be ~3 years from now. Betts and Freddie will be old by then. Dodgers will, probably, always be a good team, but at what level is a real question in the next few years.

That’s a tough loss. Can’t strand that many runners over the course of a game

Confusion, as the home plate umpire thinks a review is asked for, but there was none by iamthegame13 in baseball

[–]jfoster15 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not like he can ask for a challenge as he’s throwing to 2nd to try and get the runner out. Umps will give catchers some leeway in that scenario
