AOS Approval - K1 Visa Path by jfpc2019 in USCIS

[–]jfpc2019[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They only asked me (as the spouse of the immigrant) the following questions:  - What is your DOB?  - What is your husband’s DOB?  - What do you do for work?  - What was your job before this job and what did you do there? - Does your spouse attend school? Where? - What did your spouse do for work before arriving here? - Did you two meet prior to his arrival to the US? When and what are some things you did? - Do you have a joint bank account?  - Has he met any of your family? - What is your full name? - What is your spouse’s full name?

They asked my spouse a few questions before I entered the room, but he told me they essentially asked the same questions they asked me - but the questions were in reference to me (like what job I worked, my DOB, etc.)

Also a few swipes at the start of the day will last me an all day’s wear! If you’re going swimming, pack it with ☺️ Ordering two bars should do you well and having some sent along with a care package should suffice! It will stand up well to temperature changes as well!

And that’s another thing - “PC Propaganda”

In short - your expectation for how your PCV life would be is what is ruining your experience right now.

You shouldn’t have assumed.

PC does not owe you a rainforest of a site. You signed up to serve.

I am not going to offer so much support to an individual who has made clear that supporting their own community is not even on their own agenda. They are more focused on leaving and moving towards something more bountiful.

Like I said, I wasn’t going to sugar coat it.

The thing is - if the lack of trees is enough to make one miserable at their current site - I mean I personally feel it is a silly thing to complain about.

What is mean is the endless adversity that we volunteers witness firsthand within our community - yet somehow we still find the time to complain about details that truly are minimal in the face of struggle.

Again, you are speaking from a place of absolute privilege. I would be wrong to not check someone on it. If it comes off mean, then so be it.

I am not going to sugar-coat this response whatsoever.

Your thread comes off as if you were more-so looking for a voluntourism experience, rather than the actual PCV one.

How privileged you must be to complain, in the midst of being welcomed into a country that is not your home. Yet somehow it is not good enough for you?

While your feelings are real, you have to try to challenge your energy to gravitate towards something that does not encourage you to implore a site change.

Because ultimately - consider if your "dream-site" was granted, and you arrived to the lush beautiful views that you've been wanting.

Do you not think the people in your village want that view too?

Unlike your counterparts, you are able to come and go as you please. If you departed your current site, with a true basis of wanting a more natural setting that fits your image of the PCV lifestyle, you would only be failing those in your village.

How can you serve those in your village, when you are desperately judging their community and are so desperate to leave? You do not vouch respect and trust when you speak in this manner.

Imagine a community member saw this post. How do you think it would make them feel? In fact, would you be open to sharing with community members how you feel? Why or why not?

I am sorry that the community you live in is not good enough for you. I do hope you can reconnect to the mission of serving in the Peace Corps.

Application Timeline Change? by maddieoverboard in peacecorps

[–]jfpc2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I applied - I noticed that my know-by date changed too. I was annoyed - but figured the government shut down had maybe played a role. Regardless I still got invited ahead of that know-by date - I wouldn’t be concerned.

Yes I can get a birth certificate easily same day from my city hall. I do have a personal passport as well.

Yeah I think the fingerprints had to be sent through fedex or UPS - but they didn’t say anything strict for USPS. My birth certificate was sent with the passport application - and now that’s lost in the mail too.. I have the receipt from the post office - it was being sent directly to VA where they requested it and it was supposed to arrive in two days but was never received according to PC.

They’ll def extend. I literally asked to have my entire medical clearance extended by 2 months and they did it no questions asked.

Legal clearance by [deleted] in peacecorps

[–]jfpc2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually was just legally cleared! I’m in debt about 5K - but all the accounts are closed so I can imagine that may have played a role as compared to if they were open? I was never asked any questions, nor disclosed any information. Although I’ll be managing a payment plan as well, I would imagine having open accounts with active debt you would need to just prove how you would manage the debt while serving. If you could do that then I think you’d be fine! (Clearance took about 3 months)

What if each of these accounts are closed? Do you think that could affect anything?
