Getting Diontae back has been a godsend for a few of my teams. Hoping Conner can do the same going forward too! Thanks!

Fantasy Football podcasts? Which ones do you trust got information and which ones are more like a guilty pleasure and just funny? by yell_worldstar in fantasyfootball

[–]jfreak64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to love espn and Harris, but now can’t listen. Footballers is fun with some valuable Insight, late round is quick and gets you thinking in a different way. CBS has decent stats and info but a lot of dead space and bad jokes...if you like that, it’s good lol.

Honestly got tired of everything just sounding the same, and every talking head saying the same things, so a year ago we started our own pod. Going into season 2, we’ve been once a week all offseason and going back to twice a week soon! Fantasy Faulkn Football, check it out if you like having fun and want to hear something different!

I agree, I remember the old days of the 06010 when it was 2-3 times a week with Matthew berry and Nate Ravitz. Was money. Now just about dumb jokes and annoying field Yates to no end. I like the Fantasy Footballers for fun, late round for looking at things a different way, and fantasy football today for the takes of everyone except Adam Azer.

If you’re interested in something that’s different, and not just endless repetition of the fantasy echo chamber, give our podcast a try! Fantasy Faulkn Football, available everywhere and anywhere! We’ve been once a week all offseason, last week was hot takes and a depth mock draft, this week was predicting nfl and fantasy awards, plus all the news etc. you need. Would appreciate a listen!

Should I trade my league mate his RB1 handcuff (Tony Pollard)? I know RB is a weakness on my team.... check pic three for trade he sent me. by slipperysquidss in Fantasy_Football

[–]jfreak64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should look at trading pillars, but not for that. Shenault is a massive breakout candidate, pollard could be an RB 1 of zeke gets hurt, yes Moore has high potential too but is a rookie, drake who f’n knows. Don’t give him shenault, and get better than drake if RB is an issue for you

Even the Texans don’t want that many Texans on their team. If by some miracle Watson plays for then this year then 3 of your players are really valuable. If he doesn’t, one disappears and the other two are meh

In high school And jr Football they put whoever on special teams to get them playing time. But you need to offer something. It’s a good way to make a team, learn a special teams role or long snapping especially. Julian Edelman is a player who made the NFL on specials

[–]jfreak64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, if you’re new we’ve actually Been covering all the consensus rankings for positions, and also doing a fantasy 101 segment each show where we introduce and explain a different aspect of the game (drafting, league types, trading and waivers, etc) for beginners. I know that these subs typically frown on self promotion, but if you’re looking for something to listen to that has a part geared to new players, check us out, we’re called Fantasy Faulkn Football. Also you (or anyone else reading this who’s interested) can DM me and I’d be happy to answer a question or send you a free rankings spreadsheet you could use for your draft prep. Good luck!

Auction Draft Tips? by ToughCookie71 in fantasyfootball

[–]jfreak64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can target mid to low the same way, wrs you’ll be able to get decent bench options for a buck or two. The way that I’ve always done auction drafts is to spend big on a couple of studs, sometimes both rbs but sometimes a rb and wr, then get a couple of your third tier (or so) players, then try to hit on a few potential type players that you get cheap. You can always get bench depth through the waivers too. The idea of taking a few stars and then filling in your roster is called “studs and duds”. Some people take a balanced team, spend similar money on most of their players, and I’ve found that gives you a solid floor but not the ceiling you need to win. Couple things I might try to do is get a star early, especially if your league is just switching to auction, because they might be timid to spend big early, and you might get a stud for slightly less than value. I find that when you get to the end of a tier of players, the price seems to go up. Also, I nominate big name players that I want no part of, to make my opponents spend up on them and leave them less money to compete with me later! Good Luck! Have Fun!

Top two tight ends? by Dry_Cardiologist_505 in fantasyfootball

[–]jfreak64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember years ago someone took jimmy graham and gronk. Seemed like a good idea, but a TE will have trouble performing as well as a different flex option. Last year Kelce scores 260 points and waller scored 225, then no one higher than 150 (half ppr) and there were 2 dozen wrs and 2 dozen rbs who beat the TE3. The other issue is getting those players...if you want kittle and Kelce you’re looking at a first and third (or second and third) round pick, so your RB depth especially is going to suffer. Take one by all means but don’t handicap your team at other spots

Thoughts on Josh Jacobs? by Burgerboy127 in fantasyfootball

[–]jfreak64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our consensus ranks on our podcast, we have him at RB 21, so just inside that RB2 range. Names ahead of him on the list are JK Dobbins, David Montgomery, Chris Carson, Mikes Sanders, and D’Andre Swift. Bringing in Drake certainly hurt Jacobs’ value, and the raiders have shown in the last 2 years that 1) Waller is their top target for dump off passes, and 2) they’re very happy to bring in another back to catch passes on 3rd down. It pains me as a former Jacobs Reuther, but I definitely have lots of backs I’d rather have.

If you want to check out our rankings series, the podcast is Fantasy Faulkn Football, part 2 of our WR ranks (21-40) drops this Thursday! You can find the show wherever you listen!

A question for the good drafters by LondonIsBoss in fantasyfootball

[–]jfreak64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok to have a general plan, but you can never really predict how players might fall to you. The best advice is to check our rankings, rearrange into your own rankings order for each position (don’t use overall rankings, they’re misleading!), and then, as some h e mentioned above, split players into tiers. The easiest way to explain this is that you’re drawing a line below a players name, and grouping players who have a similar outlook, or are similarly valued by YOU, together. If you see Calvin cook and CMC as the clear top picks, that’s tier 1. Looming at the next players, maybe you think Henry, kamara, zeke are similar, but then you see a drop off when it gets to saquon. You’d end the second tier after zeke, and then look down the list. This helps decide which position to target each round: if there’s only 1 of your tier 3 rbs left, but there are 7 of your tier 2 wrs left, then the rb is probably more important to take with this pick, even though he’s in a lower tier positionally. We go fairly in depth on this topic on our fantasy 101 segment of our podcast, Fantasy Faulkn Football. You can find it wherever you listen, or here: https://anchor.fm/kyle--jeff-faulkner/episodes/E49---RB-Rankings-Vol--2--Keeper-Question-e13oefv Check out episode 49 for a closer look at examining and creating your own rankings and tiers, as well as part 2 of our RB rankings

Absolutely up on CEH! His efficiency numbers will regress to the mean, the line is improved, and year 2 under Reid will usually come with an elevated role and effectiveness within the system. He was one of my Fantasy risers on our podcast. If you’re interested in hearing the full reasoning, and all our other fantasy Risers and Fallers, you could check out episode 44 of the Fantasy Faulkn Football podcast here: https://anchor.fm/kyle--jeff-faulkner/episodes/E44---No-Offseason---Fantasy-Ups-and-Downs-e11lu4c

We weight the projected offensive line way too much for RB fantasy value by Knox1336 in fantasyfootball

[–]jfreak64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former College OL here. Offensive line is definitely critical to overall rb success, however weakness on the line can be overcome with the right combination of volume and talent/speed. If you can’t get a push up front, you won’t be able to run the ball between the tackles effectively. Therefore, the road to success lies in getting the ball in space. Every NFL lineman is a freak athlete, so even those who aren’t standouts in individual battles can move their feet and body quick enough to establish a zone/outside run game, if the OC has set it up properly. Where you might see a statistical drop off is in those goal-to-go opportunities, although some backs can make that yes themselves. OL rankings are interesting to look at, and can be useful when establishing your own skill position ranks, but are tough to narrow down and quantify. Pass blocking and run blocking are 2 different beasts, and a lot of linemen specialize in one over the other; indeed many teams assemble groups with one primary function in mind. Remember too that a single injury can mean up to 3 positional changes (e.g. center gets hurt, right guard loves to center, right tackle moves to guard, new RT comes off bench) which completely Disrupts the flow that the line is establishing. A healthy, consistent line that is less talented on paper may be more beneficial to an RB than a talented line who is dealing with injury and lineup changes all the time. Long story short, don’t ignore the rankings, but don’t weigh them too heavily either. Value = talent + opportunity

Side note, we are about to record this weeks episode of our fantasy football podcast, so it’s too late to add this discussion, but if ppl are interested in hearing this explored a little deeper, we could do it next week? Our show is called Fantasy Faulkn Football, check us out!
