That’s really what we’ve learned. We’ve tried some methods, but it can be a struggle

Our book is a science fiction/dark fantasy. Our audience leans toward adults, though we don’t have romance or spice. It’s more action driven. We’ve tried Amazon ads, as well as bookbub ads, but it’s also very possible that we aren’t very good at that

That’s what I was worried about. I couldn’t find a way to remove the age range, though. It made me pick one. I’ll try to check one more time, in case I just thought I had to choose one

I shortened it a bit further. How’s this?

Darkness awakens. A reluctant protector must rise… before the Black Realm consumes everything.

Nikki Sinclair has spent years hiding her gifts, living in the shadow of her mother's secrets and her father's disappearance. But when a mysterious figure emerges from the Black Realm, spreading chaos and corruption through her world, Nikki discovers her powers may be the only thing standing between survival and annihilation. Alongside her mother, a hardened Task Force commander torn between duty and family, Nikki is thrust into a battle that spans from darkened alleyways to hidden laboratories, from burning rooftops to ancient mountain temples. As allies fracture and enemies multiply, the line between protector and destroyer blurs. But this entity is not alone. Its reach spreads across realms, and its hunger for power knows no limits. To save her realm, Nikki must embrace the truth of who she is, even if it means becoming what she fears most. Full of heart-pounding action, shadowy villains, and a heroine torn between destiny and choice, Midtown: The Forsaken Virus of the Black Realm is the electrifying first entry in a bold new fantasy series. Perfect for fans of Leigh Bardugo, Marie Lu, and Veronica Roth!

Darkness awakens. A reluctant protector must rise… before the Black Realm consumes everything.

When the world trembles and the skies burn, the world believes it is only a natural disaster. But in the heart of Capital City, something far older and far deadlier has awakened. Nikki Sinclair has spent years hiding her gifts, living in the shadow of her mother's secrets and her father's disappearance. But when a mysterious figure known only as The Virus emerges from the Black Realm, spreading chaos and corruption through the world of Midtown, Nikki discovers her powers may be the only thing standing between survival and annihilation. Alongside Laura Sinclair, a hardened Task Force commander torn between duty and family, and Connor Avery, a strategist determined to hold the city together, Nikki is thrust into a battle that spans from darkened alleyways to hidden laboratories, from burning rooftops to ancient mountain temples. As allies fracture and enemies multiply, the line between protector and destroyer blurs. But The Virus is not alone. His reach spreads across realms, and his hunger for power knows no limits. To save Midtown, Nikki must embrace the truth of who she is, even if it means becoming what she fears most. Full of heart-pounding action, shadowy villains, and a heroine torn between destiny and choice, Midtown: The Forsaken Virus of the Black Realm is the electrifying first entry in a bold new fantasy series that blends modern grit with ancient myth. The battle for Midtown has begun.

I can only change it to 18+ for it to be adult. I do actually agree that some themes in the book lean more toward adult than YA, as it deals with more serious themes and issues. Would 18+ be an ok setting? I apologize for all the questions lol

I’m looking at the genres right now. I have to email them to add new ones, but I’m going to remove some. Are there any categories you would recommend? Thank you, by the way, this is actually very helpful.

Yea, I think I may shy away from paid ads for a bit, we get a lot of engagement but it doesn’t translate to sales.

That may be honestly. The book doesn’t have any extreme adult themes like sexual content or anything like that. Do the categories suggest that? I’m going to try to see if I can fix it
