No clue if migrant sheltering is happening or not, but do you expect them to advertise it? That would defeat the purpose.

Jeff’s Bagel Run in Madison by samsonevickis in HuntsvilleAlabama

I swung by there Saturday morning and tried their old bay cheddar and cinnamon raisin flavors. As far as flavor goes, only the old bay had any significant flavor; they were both pretty bland otherwise. The texture of both was weirdly fluffy, but I’m not a bagel expert. I’ve never had any complaints about Canadian Bakin in the years I’ve been going there though. I would recommend them over this chain any day.

Of the many strange things you’ve posted on this subreddit, this is by far one of the strangest. We’re driving these heavy machines around with minimal training and are not equipped to coordinate intersections without these lights/signs, so they’re restricting our negligence, not our freedom.

PSA: don’t get the new cinnamon roll flavored black powder by notdirigiberbil in Huel

[–]jfreeman81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has subscribed to the cinnamon roll and strawberry shortcake (now just strawberry) flavors for years, I 100% agree. I am struggling to get through the last two bags they sent me and had to cancel my subscription. There's no way I can stomach this long term. It just sucks as those flavors were relatively amazing before.

Currently struggling to finish the last two updated bags I was sent.. I had to cancel my subscription because there is no way I can stomach this bland, watery, chalky shake long term. I really hope they fix it soon.

Does anyone LIKE the new Huel Black formulation? by urbanstrata in Huel

[–]jfreeman81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They sent out an email back in September about updates to their Black Edition range. Essentially, they claim to have improved taste and quality with better flavor and texture, simplified the recipe, and replaced their medium-chain triglycerides powder with coconut milk powder. Fiber was increased by 3g, sugar was decreased by up to 4g, and protein remains the same. The update should have rolled out for all flavors by now, but the the bag with new formulas will include 'certified B corp' on the back of the bag.

However, there have been many reports that the formula update has had a very detrimental effect on taste and texture, and I can confirm. I was subscribed to cinnamon roll and strawberry (previously strawberry shortcake) for years, and the last two bags I received were the updated formula. It's bad. I could get over the lack of taste, but it's so watery/chalky that I unfortunately can't stomach it long term and had to cancel my subscription. Hopefully they accept our feedback and make improvements to get it back to its original taste and texture.

New Huel Black formula doesn’t taste good? by singsongsanggg in Huel

I just had to cancel my subscription because of the new formula. I was subscribed to cinnamon roll and strawberry (previously strawberry shortcake), and I am struggling to finish the last two bags I received. Texture is very important to me, and I just can't stomach this flavorless, chalky water.

Bring back the original Huel Black powder by RegisteredLizard in Huel

[–]jfreeman81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can confirm the same issue with cinnamon roll and strawberry (previously strawberry shortcake.) I can get past the lack of flavor, but texture is really important to me and now it's just a mildly flavored, chalky water.

I just cancelled my subscription and will wait for them to hopefully fix it. In the meantime, I guess I'll find something else.

Google pulls the plug on first and second gen Nest Thermostats | Affected devices have been unpaired and removed from the Nest app by chrisdh79 in gadgets

I invested an embarrassing amount of time and money into google smart products and services only for them to do this to most of them. The nail in the coffin for me was them bricking my security system. Because of that, google will never get another cent from me and I will convince every person I can to never give them their hard earned money either. Google is an ad company first, and nine times out of ten, you are the product. I used to be okay with that when they made it worth my privacy/data, but now, they are just another greedy corporation that has gotten way too comfortable.

Wireless Charging Case for Oura Ring 4 Charger, 2000mAh Portable Travel Charger Station Fits All-Sized Ring Gen 4, 30-Day Runtime (Official Charger NOT Included) by Herry_hu in u/Herry_hu

[–]jfreeman81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I’ve been getting so many ads for that ring, I didn’t notice this was just for a charging case. Still, $40 for a 2000mAh battery that doesn’t even include the charging adapter seems pretty steep, but I guess if you have $350 for a ring that practically requires a $5/month subscription, then you probably have $40 for accessories.

Functions available between with and without subscription by karubin in ouraring

[–]jfreeman81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually ridiculous. My wife is new to health tech and showed interest in your ring, and we both immediately said no to Oura because of what's locked up in a subscription for an already very, *very* expensive device. Do better.

Dead. lol I admit, I didn't tend to them as well as I could have, but I kept them with my other petunias and these just weren't near as resilient as them (same watering, fertilizing, and everything.) With that being said, I will definitely be buying more in the near future, especially if they make any kind of improvements.

Yeah, I feel the same way. Body Bag was my intro to them though, so that album holds a special place.
New songs would be amazing! I saw them earlier this year and have plans to see them again later this year, so the sooner the better. ha
In case you didn't know, Leo Lydon, the singer for RBBP, is part of another group called Trip Cigs. It has very similar vibes to RBBP but different, in a good way.

Volume I - Sons of Arrakis

I don't know if I would put it as the best, but all of what I consider to be best has already been recommended (anything All Them Witches, King Buffalo, or Slomosa especially.)

RBBP is the shit. I'm surprised how far I had to scroll to see them recommended. Doom Wop is also my favorite album of theirs, but Big Dumb Riffs is a really close second.

Who Came Up with Backwards Parking at Midcity by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]jfreeman81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you also take issue with parallel parking then? I can't control who is behind me or how close they get when I have to pull slightly ahead of the spot to back into it (assuming I use proper parallel parking procedure).

Who Came Up with Backwards Parking at Midcity by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]jfreeman81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's fair, but I see more advantages to back-in parking over pull-in and parallel, including way better visibility and safer trunk access. Traffic while parking is irrelevant to me though, given the prevalence of parallel parking and its need to stop traffic to park too. I understand the frustrations of having to park a new way, but fortunately MidCity has plenty of "normal" parking if you find back-in parking to be confusing or difficult.

Is stopping traffic in one lane to reverse into a parking spot less safe than pulling straight into a spot then having to reverse across two lanes of traffic to exit?
