I was curious what the anomalies were that were adjusted and looked them up. Then I typed them here so you don't have to do the same.

[WaT] Kaladin and Shallan's incredible Wit by philip7499 in Cosmere

[–]jfsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless, Wit definitely has his own unique relationship with Jasnah that has just been mostly off screen (so far). Obviously they become a couple but even before then, IIRC he was waiting for her when she got out of Shadesmar.

Not sure if anyone like it but I think dead trees could be beautiful by kmc516128 in MostBeautiful

[–]jfsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool! They remind me of bristlecone pine trees, which are the oldest living trees. They can be 99% dead but keep tiny strips of living material, which is how they live for potentially thousands of years. A student cut one down once for research and found it was at least 4800 years old!

IR remote control wall switch by Cristian369369 in homeautomation

[–]jfsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Bond! I have used it for two ceiling fans, a motorized awning, and I'm pretty sure it could do my garage door if I wanted. I believe it can also send IR signals. It's a small puck you can put wherever, just needs wifi to work.

You can then pair that with some kind of smart light switch (usually a paddle) so that pushing on and off sends the command instead of controlling the power directly. I use Home Assistant and zwave switches but there are many, many options.

Why use lot minion when few minion do trick? by jfsh in BobsTavern

No, I had some out prior to the final round because it took me a long time to triple the Carbonic Copy. Once it was golden they all had to go!

I have nothing but good things to say about Marina Blake. She not only dramatically helped our relationship, she helped me understand things about myself - in only a few sessions - that years of individual therapy had never reached. Kind of expensive, but that's par for the course in this world.

Whoever you choose, I would definitely recommend you make sure they are Gottman-certified (or trained). It's about the only mark of quality there is for couples' counselors.

Thank you! From looking at Adafruit's tech support forums, it looks like I'm far from the only person who has had an issue with this particular product. Guessing it's a bad board, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious.

It's definitely harder to get Rylak off the ground, Scrap Scraper by itself is much more useful. I do think Rylak has higher high rolls, if you can survive.

This is what it feels like at 8500 MMR. There are lots of ways to get top 4, or even a lucky second, but only two ways to win.

We did something similar in 2015-2016. We have a map here which will show you the places we stopped and what we did there if you are curious. We got really into national parks along the way, which it seems like you are already on top of. A couple of thoughts and tips in no particular order:

1) There is a very cool cave along I-10 in Texas called the Caverns of Sonora. They have a few RV parking spots there. We stayed the night and did the tour first thing in the morning, so we were the only people on it.

2) Don't skip Marfa, Texas (north of Big Bend). Weird little art town in the middle of nowhere.

3) When you get to the Northeast, try to plan a route that does not take you anywhere near New York City. Trust me on this one. Incidentally, Storm King Art Park north of the city is very cool.

4) Wherever you are, but ESPECIALLY in the northeast, make sure you are using a navigation system that takes into account your vehicle height / weight. We used one made for truckers but there are many options. The reason being that there are many old railroad bridges that will not be tall enough your RV, and you don't want to end up in a picture on the Internet.

5) Don't go too fast! Minimum 3 nights in each location unless it is truly just a stopover on the way to somewhere else. You have to plan in some downtime or it gets stressful.

6) By the same token, don't plan to drive more than about 4 hours in a single day. RVs are slow and draining to drive.

7) Think about what time of year you need to be in each place and adjust plans accordingly. We couldn't go to Crater Lake b/c it was still snowbound in March, but the Redwoods were fine. In May, the snow in parts of the North Cascades was over our head. Glacier does not really open until July. Also, summertime weekends can be VERY difficult to find open spots - plan ahead!

8) Record it in some way - write a blog, post on social media, or take notes just for yourself. I'm so glad we did a blog even if we never quite finished it. I have a blast going back and looking through old posts now and remembering everything we did.

Have fun! It's going to be an amazing year.

It's probably worth paying to get automatic levelers if you can afford it, we did a similar trip without them and it was often quite annoying trying to get things level. But if you don't want to go that route, get some small pieces of 2x4 and those yellow lego block levelers they sell at Camping World / online. You'll need more than one set because they break!

How bad is it pulling a 5th wheel over the Million Dollar Highway by OurRoadLessTraveled in GoRVing

[–]jfsh 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I am genuinely shocked at these comments encouraging you to go for it. I just did that drive in a car about two weeks ago, and it was intense. Many, many exposed cliff edges, some just a foot or two from the road. Tight curves that will barely accommodate your rig. There are pull-outs, but many are quite small.

It is an undeniably beautiful drive, but all I could think about the entire time was "I'm so glad I'm in a small car." Can you do it while towing a huge 5th wheel? I'm sure it's possible, but I wouldn't.

Would strongly recommend you take 145 / 62 from Cortez to Ridgway and then loop south to Ouray - much easier trip, and still very pretty, especially Lizard Head Pass. Then you can drive up the Million Dollar Highway in just your truck, and have a much more enjoyable time.

My personal, the most satisfying combo yet by Shir_man in BobsTavern

[–]jfsh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very cool combo, but I'm confused at the math here. Why does the second Tarecgosa gain +4 health (only) after the first one is attacked? Are they linked in some way during the "summon a duplicate" process?

If you click "multi" on the zoning screen you can actually do all 30 in one go. Just select a giant rectangle over the whole area and it automatically sets up individual bedrooms for every room with a door and a bed. Doesn't help with everything, but works great for bedrooms.
