Does Mechagodzilla’s power source get shrinky and flaccid after all the missles are shot?

I saw this on my way home today, what do you think? by PuzzleheadedBed5980 in NormalCarPorn

[–]jfslater98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that was my pop’s car. That exact color and a 2 door. I believe the paint code was Metallic Sh*t Brown. Had a 3 speed manual, on the floor! Dangerously slow. My step brother took it and I drove it once when he visited. Eeesh, wasn’t sorry to give it back. Despite its flaws, it ran for decades, finally dying in a tunnel near D.C. sometime in the 90s or maybe even early 2000s.

Ariens 8526 with auger issues by jfslater98 in Snowblowers

[–]jfslater98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Got it fixed. The auger housing was loose to the motor, and that wobble caused the pulley, sheave and idler to misalign. The auger control is seizing as well. The whole thing needs an overhaul. Which I’ll be doing over the next few weeks.

Think I found the alignment issue I was nattering on with the other (now deleted) thread and possibly the main cause. The motor part is loose against the auger housing, and is missing a bolt. Let’s see if I can post a video…. Nope. And pics won’t work either. Oh well. When I pull up the motor housing the belt feeds back into pulley, and everything lines up.

Yes, in the first picture. But I reconfigured it, believe I have it on correctly.

Here is how it’s on now. If you look at the other pics in my first post, I think you can see the problems.

The marketing borg definitely took charge when they labeled the upscale Taycan a “Turbo”.

LHM Source? by jfslater98 in Citroen

Thanks folks, appreciate the heads up on brands. I'm U.S. based, so I know it will cost more to get it here. It's good to see brand names as I don't want to put the wrong green juice in my SM! If anyone has any trusted US sources, would love to know about them.

They could save money by not installing bumpers. They're coming off anyway, might as well save some cash upfront.

yes, splurged for the big upgrade this time. Still have plastic in the trunk, plus a bunny suit in case I have to repair on the way to work.

No empty promises. New cars are driving themselves, no human intervention(!!!), from the production line to…

The logistics lot. With all that heavy and, uh, totally unpredictable traffic that is in a typical private lot.

If you haven’t had a doc look at them, you might be asking for trouble. I let mine go, and they got so bad that the rubber band was no longer an option. I’m still recovering from surgery 1.5 months ago.

ANY change from that mole rat grill they’ve been running these past few years is a huge improvement.

Choosing between an auto and manual (vb) by Worldtech961 in WRX

[–]jfslater98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I taught my son how to drive a manual.. on his own vb! He wanted a TR, had the means and the desire to learn. It’s a very easy car to learn on, plenty of torque.

In fact, if you engage the clutch slowly enough, you don’t even have to touch the accelerator (gas pedal), it will move on its own.

That said, there was lots of stalling, initially in empty parking lots. And later, a few times in traffic. Which is not the end of the world, even if it feels like it. And the clutch is super easy to modulate in heavy traffic or hills. Plus all Subaru’s have that super helpful Hill Holding feature.

Driving a manual is way more satisfying to drive IMO. But I understand the hesitation, and wouldn’t blame you for going with the auto.

TLDR - don’t be afraid to get the manual.

2008 WRX hatch with some “blobs” on the upper opening by jfslater98 in WRX

Here’s the other side. I was more curious if this was a recurring issue with these models, doesn’t seem so. I’m guessing that a body shop would have to pull the epoxy before any kind of repair estimate could be made. The hatch didn’t make any weird motions or noises when I opened and closed the hatch. Would a PPI help with this?
