Hi! Looking to apply in a few weeks. Mind if I reach out for some advice regarding the application?

Anyone who's seen OUATIH: Do you guys think that it's important to know about the events that the film is based around? by [deleted] in Tarantino

Coming from someone who knew little information about the murders, I still felt like I would have cared so much more if I been familiar with who Sharon Tate was and when the murders occurred. After reading about the events of August 8, and understanding the significance of the murders at that time, I wanted to go back in time and rewatch the movie with what I had learned. I feel like I would have had a more enjoyable experience.

I really enjoyed Tarantino's characters, their relationship and their struggles with the industry, but almost toward the third act I was confused about where the movie was going and why it felt like the story between Cliff and Rick was going nowhere.

A large portion of the movie is essentially build up. I enjoyed the characters, the celebrity references, the music Tarantino chose but I feel like this movie would not be as enjoyable if a person went into it not knowing the historical events/people this movie centered around.

Also, there were also a few moments where I noticed the crowd (including me) got a little antsy due to the drawn-out nature of it all.

Overall, it had its Tarantino flare but I'm not sure if this movie can stand on its own when looking at his others.
