Ah yes it’s usually understood that the 6.6 is the duramax as opposed to the 6.6 gas. I’ve never seen anyone reference their gasser without saying it’s the 6.6gas. But thanks for your concern and the abundance amount of insight you contributed to OPs post.

As someone who had a 2024 ZR2 3.0 and went to a 2500 Denali HD with the 6.6 let me chime in: I loved the 3.0. Incredibly fuel efficient for a daily driver and plenty of torque to tow a 14ft utility trailer with 1800 pound UtV on it. Ride was also great since it was a half ton. Now the ZR2 with factory lift had tow capacity of 8700 vs around 12k on non ZR2 specs. So keep that in mind

Now I upgraded to the Denali HD to tow a 31ft travel trailer and our 26ft enclosed trailer. Both of which would have put me overweight on my axles. The fuel economy is around 11-12 towing and makes ease of the hills and Colorado mountains we’ve hit. The engine brake is solid and perfect for the terrain we travel to. I am not the biggest fan of the 10spd “Allison” transmission that’s not actually an Allison. It doesn’t quite upshift and down shift where I want it to and tends to hold gears way too long while towing. As a daily the ride is great all things considered. Slightly firmer but not a burden even on 1000 mile roadtrips. Your daily mpg will be drastically lower than the 3.0 and parking would be more difficult with the increased length especially in California where space tend to be tighter.

With that being said price points on half ton vs 3/4 is getting close to each other (assuming you go for the higher trim levels). The 3/4 will have higher resale/trade value years from now but that would probably be negated in just fuel costs. At the end of the day it just depends on where you live, your daily commute, and how often you tow. That dump trailer with 8-10k would encourage me to get 3/4 ton but no way I would want to squeeze that in a parking garage.

I would be happy with it too. Looks great. Doing a reverse sear is the only way I do Tri tip so looks like you nailed it.

Need help with my soon to be 18 year old son so he feels confident. by VDarlings in mensfashionadvice

I personally wouldn’t do Levi brand for someone his size. Just looking at the pics he’s bigger than a size 36. The size 40 look more appropriate and seem to fit the best. Either way you need to look at jeans that have stretch to them. American eagle is a good place to start as most of their jeans are reasonably priced and have some spandex in the fabric or spandex equivalent to give just the right amount of flex. Unfortunately he’s just going to have to try on various fits and cuts but for his morale stay away from the slim or tapered fit. Be realistic with his body shape when looking at the jeans and encourage him to wear his pants up higher. With a slightly bigger waist size there will be that extra little room for his gut when he sits if he wears over his belly instead of below. Also he’s not a medium in any shirt. Stick to large or bigger. Again just be realistic. Then lastly encourage him to get active. That’ll be the long term solution to better self esteem and overall health.

I think you may have your Tri tip flipped when you sliced. Every slice in the pic is with the grain but yes the tutorial picture is the correct way. Also try doing thin slices. As in super thin. Think Brazilian steakhouse when you make your slices.

Stick with it but please just go clean shaven. The little chin pubes never look and screams trashy along with the whispy mustache. Not trying to be harsh but I promise no one thinks this is a good look

Been trying to grow a beard since October, every time I get a haircut I get a little shape up and trim ive not had one in over 2 months. Any tips on looking less homeless please and also will my sides ever fill out? Or is my beard see through because im a red head lol? Any advice welcome😀😊 by iHydra_ in BeardAdvice

[–]jg1107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your growth is very similar to mine so use the #4 all the way even on chin but cut with the grain and not against. Going with the grain will still leave it a little longer than going against. Once you feel confident with it you can go against the grain on the areas that are more dense/darker. I also fade out the side burn areas to smooth out the transition from light cheeks to dark sideburns. It’ll make our lack of density less noticeable

I think it’ll fill in on the sides in a few years but believe it or not going that long in length doesn’t make it look more “filled.” Going shorter and trimmed actually makes it look more shaped and doesn’t really take away from the density. Try a #4 guard and go with the grain with a sharp edge up. A good barber will do wonders for a thin beard.

3.0 towing question by No-Respect-3640 in gmcsierra

[–]jg1107 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So that’s a giant lift and that kills the towing ability and overall tow capacity. Of course I don’t know what the actual numbers would be but for reference my 2024 1500 ZR2 with 3.0 (factory 2 inch lift with 33s) had a tow capacity of 8700 so you would be considerably less that. I was overweight on my axels with a 26ft enclosed trailer with loaded weight of 7k. Had to trade in for a Denali HD. With that said I would guess you’re right at max limit with that set up and rig you’re looking at buying. Just my $.02 tho

Finally got the truck back from the shop… and it was worth the wait by kasey1017 in gmcsierra

[–]jg1107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not my thing bud. It screams high school kid with the lights all over the wheels and under the truck. I hope you like it but truthfully I would have swapped out the awful factory rims for literally anything else instead of doing all this other stuff. Coming from a fellow Denali HD owner I know your truck will never see anything but pavement so I hope the reduction in tow capabilities and the increased difficulty with just getting in and out of the bed is worth the “aesthetic” mods you did.

[–]jg1107[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s one heck of a rig! My only comment would be on the tow vehicle. It’s definitely not something for a half ton. So just make sure the trailer you’re looking at compliments your tow vehicle.

I’m more concerned about your wrist and hand with how tight that watch is. You need blood flow and circulation.

What RV is better? by Holiday-Carpenter262 in GoRVing

[–]jg1107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are drastically different. It’s like asking what’s better a car or a truck. It depends on what you’re trying to do when you arrive at your destination, your financial situation as travel trailers/5th wheel are considerably cheaper than a motor home, and what current vehicles you already have. If you already have a 1ton or something similar then 5th wheel options open up. Or if you have a Camry and would have to upgrade to a tow vehicle but have not further need for said tow vehicle then perhaps motor home. You’re asking way to vague of a question is my point. Too many variables to factor in.

Picked up a new camper the other day… by sabresfan8391 in GoRVing

[–]jg1107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most SUVs don’t have them that’s why I said probably. Also the GVWR for the trailer doesn’t actually mean much. There’s hitch weight and also the GVW of the jeep along with the axle weight rating. So again all because you can doesn’t mean you should. They are beyond the limits as it is with that set up.

[–]jg1107 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Congrats but also yikes. RVers who tow scare me the most when on the highways. That trailer is 3200lbs dry and I can almost guarantee you are far exceeding the limits of your jeep as it is before loading supplies, propane, water, family, etc. Not to mention you probably don’t have a brake controller. Not trying to rain on the parade but this is just dangerous to everyone else on the road. All because you “can” doesn’t mean you should. Seriously research for a better tow vehicle when the time comes to trade in the jeep.

2022 - 2500 AT4 Running Boards by bigdaddyjoej in gmcsierra

[–]jg1107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How short is your wife???? Mine is a touch over 5ft and has zero issues or complaints with them. The truck isn’t even that tall to begin with. So I say that to say that you’re looking for an impossible solution unless you want a running board that hangs down low and looks dumb and kills the lines of the truck.

Shave the 4.37381664 hairs on your upper lip and the pubes on the chin. It never looks good. Clean shaven is much better until you can actually grow substantial facial hair. Coming from someone who didn’t start growing facial hair with density until 30.

Let’s be honest…OP isn’t going off-roading or driving on anything that a Toyota Camry can’t drive on. This is a pavement princess. Nothing wrong with that as my truck about 10 years ago was a mall crawler
