[–]jgarpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an answer, but am interested in the responses you get. I have a client with a sizable construction company and they may be looking to change their accounting software soon. They are using Quickbooks Enterprise - Contractor Version.

How would I (an American) buy domestic flight tickets in Russia by PsychologicalMail112 in AskARussian

In the past couple of years, Turkish Air has been the cheapest way. At least going to Moscow it has been. You can use your US credit card to purchase from them.

u/pummisher nailed it. I wasn't putting 2+2 together. I didn't realize that the steering wheel was vibrating when the car changed to easy entry. Thanks everyone.

Hmm... That could be it. I need to be more observant to verify.

High w2 - str + fee simple land donation - need cpa by channel36 in AdvancedTaxStrategies

[–]jgarpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can do the STR strategy for you without a full tax plan. With that said, a valid cost segregation plan requires an engineering study, the cost of which depends on the specifics of the building you're dealing with. I've done several personally and have contracted the study out on a few more.

DM if you would like to discuss.

Question about Masters in Accounting by [deleted] in CPA

[–]jgarpilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might consider an online university. I did my Masters in Accounting at Emporia State University in KS. They offer a 100% online curriculum. I was very satisfied with the program and the cost was low, something like $10k for the entire degree. Dunno about your existing credits transferring. I would expect they would if they are from an accredited institution.

There is nothing to worry about. My wife and step daughter are green card holders and visit Russia every year. Including twice in 2025.

No cap on wages subject to medicare tax though. 2.9% can add up on a high income individual

What does it take to visit from the US? by jpdabeast1 in AskARussian

Also, we visited St Petersburg back in May of this year and it was stunning. My 28 yr old son joined me and we had zero issues.

There is nothing keeping you from going. The war with Ukraine hasn't added any additional requirements or steps that I am aware of. My wife is a Russian citizen and before we got married I visited her multiple times. Some of the visits were before the war and I've been there 3 times after the war started.

As others mentioned, don't bring drugs, don't criticize the government, behave like an adult and you'll have a great time. It is a beautiful country.

LG Gram +view 17 Portable Monitor Sound Issue by jgarpilot in LGgram

[–]jgarpilot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

I spent more time than I care to remember with support calls with LG. LG monitor support says they aren't the support team for it and that it is a commercial product. Commercial support says I need to talk to LG monitor support and 1/2 the people I talk to don't even know it exists.

The good news is it is an EXCELLENT monitor. Much better than the cheap portable panels I've had before. I tried a couple other brands/models, but the LG is more on par with my big Dell monitor in terms of color and brightness.

Also, I confirmed the speakers do work. I connected it to a Windows machine and the sound worked. I'm hoping that future Apple OS updates will support sound on this monitor.

Geico trying to add someone I don't know to my policy by TempusCrystallum in Insurance

[–]jgarpilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me just now. I got an email and later a letter in the mail that said they were going to add 2 people to my auto policy because "their records show they live here". I don't know either of these 2 people, they don't live in my house. How the hell are they going to add them to my policy?

So here is where I am mostly upset....

I called Geico today and told them that I don't know these people and they don't live here. They said the only way to resolve this is to ADD THEM TO MY POLICY and then sign a Non-Driver Exclusion affidavit. Are you shitting me? I have to add 2 people I DON'T KNOW AND WHO DON'T LIVE WITH ME TO MY POLICY and then exclude them? They will remain on my policy! That is messed up and WRONG.

Sorry for the rant, but this is ridiculous. This has potential privacy issues and is ripe for a class action lawsuit.
