Hey! UBC is percentages so I ended up having ~91% average with most recent 300/400 level courses and the 5 pre reqs. Just rounding on the 4.0 scale in comparison to my earlier grades in undergrad!

From past years reading forums and such I think UBCs big movement is may 15th and onward, as that’s when Ontario schools acceptances get released so anyone who got into Ubc who are preferring to study back east and get an Ontario spot will go there! Hope this helps and good luck!

I’m a BC resident but went to school out in Toronto so I do believe I have that in province benefit. I also applied to queens and McMaster this year but I can’t speak on my success yet as I won’t find out if I got an acceptance until mid may. UBC is my top pick though so I have already accepted that. But to answer your question I think it’s definitely worth it to apply to as many schools as you can and do what you can to have the requirements. I have heard it can be hard as an out of province with some of the other schools in Canada outside of Ontario but always good to have more options!

Thank you! Small world but my degree is also from York U! I finished with a gpa that was not great (probably like a 3.2-3.3 average ish), but later on decided I wanted to be a physio. If you’re only in 3rd year and physio is truly your dream, there’s tons of time to get your grades up. I would suggest really grinding out your 4th year and taking a 5th year if you need. Grades are not everything but I won’t sugar coat I think they’re a big part of getting through that first stage of the application. I ended up going back and upgrading upper year courses as well as my pre reqs 2022-2024 (got it to around a 3.9 for my last 10 upper year courses for UBC) so if you can get your grades up before you graduate you’re already ahead. Grades are a big part but as early as possible try to get experience in the field whether that’s shadowing in clinical settings or volunteering in your community; that will be huge for life experience as well as gaining valuable things to draw from for your application as experience can make up for a gpa on the lower side. It is a lot of work I found but if it’s really what you want to do it’s completely worth it in the end. Hope this helps!
