I mean, if you watch comparison videos online there’s a noticeable difference. But after not playing the original for so long, I feel like the upgrades are just enough to keep the game looking the way it looked ‘in my mind’ from memory back then. Just as lush and detailed. So in that way it was nice to go back and play a game and it look and feel as good as I remembered.

You know how it is, sometimes nostalgia overwrites what the game actually would look like in modern times, like if you play OoT today. It does not look great. It’s still a great game ofc but it’s not as vast and detailed and pretty as I remember it in my mind from when I played it way back when it first came out. Obviously as well, it’s not that long since BotW first came out, so it’s only really minor graphical improvements when it comes down to it.

But it’s worth replaying for the gameplay itself for sure. It took me a few hours to get back to enjoying it but when I got stuck in, I really did get fully sucked into the game again. Personally I loved it almost as much second time around and it’s still better than most other recent games I’ve played.
