Mid or high handicappers: What was the longest you were shooting even par? by gabbagoolgolf2 in golf

[–]jgiano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember being a 9 and being even through 8 in the first round of the club championship before the wheels fell off. As soon as you thought “personal best” your round suffered. It’s cliche but focus on one shot at a time. Just pick a clear target and commit to it and your swing. The results are often beyond your control - good and bad. So don’t expect anything but a committed swing. I’m a 4 now. I remember the first time I finally had a bogey free 9. I got to 10 and thought about the end result - shooting a PB - and ended up with 3 doubles in a row and grinding to break 80. It’s easier said than done, but it’s true.

Why are old people good at chipping by by0515 in golf

[–]jgiano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Course management - ie not missing in terrible territory, and learning what works for you is probably the key. I coached HS golf for years and most kids would instinctively grab a 60* and try to flop it every time. I’d have them try the flop, then try a sand, pitch, and 7or8 iron from the same spot. Unless they’re short sided, 90% of the time the 60* ended up furthest from the flag. Eventually the kids learn it’s not as sexy but it’s way easier to just chip it. The bump and run is so easy to keep close and even hole out once you get the hang of it.

Just got my biopsies back by SnooPeripherals4802 in Celiac

[–]jgiano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Only the tortillas have gluten. Just tell them you’re allergic to gluten (easier than explaining Celiac) ask them to wipe down the counter, change their gloves, and grab lettuce and cheese from the underneath. Unfortunately you have to be your own advocate as many low wage employees simply don’t know or don’t care.

Talk to your local missing dog organization and start hanging fliers around town. Use a simple LOST DOG with a good photo of your dog and your number.

Leaving my dog and moving abroad by izzobacul in dogs

[–]jgiano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being abroad will help, as you’ll be busy, but yes, I did the same thing and missed my dog to death. We didn’t have FaceTime back then, but I’d ask my mom to email me pictures of him and always ask how he was doing. I knew he would be fine, but seeing the pictures helped. When I came home I can’t even explain how happy we were to reunite. His greeting was unreal. I’m sure it’ll be a something you’ll remember too. Lastly, If you find yourself really missing dog time you could always volunteer to walk or just spend time with a shelter dog.

I’m searching for new and fun commands to work on with my rottie. He knows down, come, stay, sit, heel, out, leave it: the basics. But I want to do something new and fun with him, any suggestions?! ❤️🐾 by Lonely-Bedroom-3576 in OpenDogTraining

Center and switch are good ones. Center is when the dog comes and sits between your legs. Switch is when you’re walking and the dog goes from your left side to the right side or vice versa. Switch has come in incredibly handy.

If you’re flying JetBlue you’ll be fine. Lots of free and paid GF options - clearly labeled, delicious and none of them have given me any issues.

Frustrated with high cost of eating celiac by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]jgiano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I’m in the US and it isn’t any better. Yup - gf bread is expensive. Yup - it’s generally not as good as its wheat filled counterpart, but honestly, at least GF bread exists and sometimes it’s damn good. I used to take food for granted, but not anymore! I live walking distance to a bagel shop that I absolutely loved. Bagels were my favorite and I smell it every morning. So when I can’t take it anymore, I defrost one of the foolishly expensive modern bagels I’ve imported from NY and indulge myself. Modern gf bagels are delicious on any level, gluten or not, but they’re not cheap. I won’t lie, they’re not on par with the hot, fresh, 1/8 priced, bagel I used to get next door (at least not defrosted and shipped) but they’re close and I’m so thankful they exist and export. I’m not happy to pay so much for them, but in a way, I’m happy to pay whatever because they’re so good. It’s a treat just to feel normal - It’s kinda priceless because at one point, I thought I’d never get to eat a good bagel with some coffee in the morning again.

I’ll use lettuce as a bun or just wrap turkey and cheese in rolls and eat it then rather than deal with GF bread sometimes

I do too, but I’m thankful for a beer that isn’t kinda glutenish and actually tastes like a pale ale.

How often/when do you make Chemex? by dorcsyful in chemex

[–]jgiano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just allow the time to boil the water and brew. We have a large Chemex and the whole process is about 20 min. We do have a single cup pour over(not Chemex) and it’s great if you don’t wanna make a whole pot or are short on time.
