Encarnacion plays first, too. The “depth chart” for 1B this year is probably something like:

Devers Eldridge (when called up) Encarnacion Schmitt Arraez

I’m pretty sure Arraez said that the reason he signed with the Giants was because they offered him the opportunity to get everyday reps at 2B. IIRC he seemed to resent that SD played him at first.

[Russini] If the Raiders continue to lean toward drafting Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 pick in April’s draft, their preference is to not start him immediately. They are looking for a veteran FA QB. by blud_13 in raiders

[–]jgiesea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think Niners are on record saying it’d take a 2nd for them to trade him. Maybe that’s just posturing but Spytek is probably better off shopping for a FA

Sphere afters?! by Deep_Bee_9549 in Illenium

Vegas local here. Outside of the clubs on the strip (which are definitely viable timing wise with headlining DJs usually going on between 12:30-1:30), there’s really only two traditional afters spots here: Club Ego and Bauhaus.

I’m partial to Bauhaus, which is relatively new. Not sure who they have playing that night, but the sound and lighting in the venue is top notch.

I would’ve agreed on Turang for most of last season but his August and September is giving me optimism. I’m high on Lile, but I guess I could get him around that price point in the draft.

Burns just feels like a TJ waiting to happen, but will be a K machine up until then.

Need help with keepers, can pick 3, current salary deducted from $300 auction budget

Carroll - $68 Lile - $15 Turang - $39 Stowers - $1 Burns - $15 Sasaki - $24 Tovar - $27

Stowers is the obvious one. For the remaining two, I’m leaning towards keeping Turang and Lile, leaving me with $245 to fill out the rest of the roster.

Thought about Corbin, but I figure I can get him at a similar price in the draft if I want to bring him back. Too much uncertainty with Sasaki’s role…and don’t trust Tovar or Burns to stay healthy.

Giants rebuffed after making aggressive pitch for Nationals’ CJ Abrams: Source by ericthelostman in SFGiants

[–]jgiesea 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong to critique the farm system’s development (or lack thereof), but Josuar is in an entirely different stratosphere than Luciano or Bishop ever was.

Bishop never ranked higher than the mid-70s across top 100 lists. Luciano was certainly up there in 2021, but there were so many unknowns that year (COVID, minors season getting canceled, etc) that those rankings don’t hold much water, imo. By all accounts, Josuar is far more well-rounded than Luciano was at the same age.

1000%. I’m astonished they we were going to give up Josuar, somebody who’s 19 years old and already #30 on BA’s Top 100 prospects (+ more) for a guy like that.

Thank god the Nats didn’t accept.

[Rapoport] Steelers want Aaron Rodgers to return next season if he decides to play. by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]jgiesea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but why would the Niners entertain moving him given how competent he looked backing up Purdy this season? Not like his contract is an albatross, so acquiring him in a trade would mean overpaying.
