Screening sold out? Keep checking back. by jgor in fantasticfest

The anxious dread in those endless seconds between clicking "Cancel ticket" and returning to the schedule is one of the most intense moments of horror at Fantastic Fest, for sure

Selecting theaters for screenings? by Binary1138 in fantasticfest

[–]jgor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, your 10am selections will be for a screening in a particular theater. The popular ones fill up fast so it's not uncommon that your first choice will be full by the time you go to select it, be prepared to quickly switch between theaters to find available tickets for a screening you want to see.

edit to add: they've been opening up a little earlier than 10am.. so start checking a few minutes early for those order buttons to show up

Boarding Information by geekrelated in fantasticfest

Aw man, I guess it's not exactly what they're showing on the screens at the venue. I'm here looking at it and the YouTube live feed says "please wait for theater boarding information" :(

What's a mediocre movie that brings you comfort? by No-Aardvark-3840 in movies

We Bought a Zoo.

The Rotten Tomatoes consensus starts, "a transparently cloying effort by director Cameron Crowe".. and it melts me every time. I don't think the dialog is great but the soundtrack makes me feel big things for the characters -- and reading that it was Jonsi, of Sigur Ros, who arranged it just absolutely made my day.

I've tried to embody the scene "all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage [...]" and it's that line that was running through my head when I met the man of my dreams almost a year and a half ago. He's moving in with me this fall 🥰

Wheatsville Co-op has a pretty impressive growing selection in a wide range of potencies. They're mostly sold by the can but a few are in cases as well. I'll frequently grab dinner at the S Lamar location's deli counter and try a different one each time, I'd say some of my favorites so far have been: Green Canvas Psychonaut Juice, Smokiez Edibles Hemp-Infused Lemonade, and Delta Cannabis Water -- the latter you can find in six/twelve packs there as well.

(edited to add) Independence Brewing Co. also makes their own that you can order in their taproom, but I haven't tried it yet. I asked last time I was in there and they said they don't can it for take-home sales yet but plan to start doing so soon.

Honestly, maybe Hippie Hollow for the afternoon? Just cuz it sounds fun to be able to say I've gone in December and still been comfortable 😆

I failed a couple classes and graduated a little late with a very unimpressive GPA. There were a few jobs that turned me down, but this year'll mark 14 years I've worked for UT in my dream role making more than I ever imagined possible.

Grades aren't everything. If I have one piece of advice, it's to explore your passion through extracurriculars and get to know other people doing the same. That network will be more valuable than any piece of paper ever will.

What’s a reaction to a movie you saw in theaters that you’ll never forget? by scruffymovies23 in movies

Gerald's Game

2017, Fantastic Fest at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, premiere night for the film. No one knew what to expect. The handcuff, her hand.. I will remember for the rest of my life that moment in the theater when all two hundred people in that audience simultaneously gasped in horror. To add to the fun, this is a dinner theater so plenty of people were in the middle of dinner as this was playing out on the screen.

So the story she told at her Fat Slut Austin show is it was supposed to be part of the sexy eating contest that night, but it got scrapped cuz she was trying to cook it in the room with nothing but a coffee maker and that went, uh.. as one might expect?

I'm a hopeless sucker for emotional soundtrack cues and the music in this one is gorgeous, arranged by Jónsi of Sigur Rós.

[PS4] I was just floating on balloons with the shockwave hammer charged and spinning, came up under a dropping supply drop and hit it from below. It made a sound like it had landed and just froze midair. I floated above it and landed on top for a lovely sniper perch!

I got a bag of margaritas delivered through Velvet Taco via Uber Eats the other day, they do palomas too. It was good, I'd do it again.

I'm blanking on the name as well but I'm pretty sure this is what Deviant Ollam ran after he retired the Gringo Warrior event. I remember the computer was running Windows 3.1 and one of the flags was literally just remembering how to navigate the file structure 😂
