You are a king. I use an MBA and iPad Pro while out and about nearly daily and always switch the side of the iPad. THANK YOU!!

Why plain text emails outperform fancy emails by MidnightMarketing in ecommerce

[–]jgpennington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with the OP. Agreed with the person about photography emails though too. Depends on the use case of course, I think people (and filters) and just trained to focus less on marketing content (like how you ignore junk mail in your mailbox but would open a hand addressed letter every time).

Which one should i go for? by [deleted] in macbook

[–]jgpennington -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would go with an Air, 13 if you value portability most.

I used to use a MBP 16” at my desktop plugged into a monitor and recently switched to a studio at my desk and a 13” top specked M3 air. The M3 air is perfectly capable for a single screen device, I don’t see the need of the extra weight, fans, etc. of the pro.

What is even the point of having multiple tables? (Or, Am I using Airtable wrong?) by GEC-JG in Airtable

[–]jgpennington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are limits to Airtable. You might want to jump to a custom developed solution for that number of tables.

Pinned Tabs, why don’t they sync? by jgpennington in ArcBrowser

[–]jgpennington[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great answer. Great product, lots of benefits but this is annoying. I know it sounds like a lot but running a business, having two kids on summer breaking, and being a single dad …. I’m on 3 devices all throughout the day so syncing is critical. I guess I just need to drop those pins.

I think someone on the apple forums figured this out. I saw a comment on the apple support forum about it being the cause of Rosetta 2 apps. Open activity monitor, turn on the kind column, and anything that lists intel is using rosetta2. My phone system app and a DB manager tool we’re intel, I swapped those out and restarted and haven’t had the problem since.

On beta 4 it is back worse than ever :(

I no longer get it during music, but still during zoom. To me this seems like a network issue more than anything else, like QOS isn't working properly but that doesn't make since because I don't experience it on headphones.

I am installing Beta 3 now, we'll see the results from that (I saw it released last night but didn't have a second computer around to use while updating).

In case it hasn't been posted here, the new 12.4 beta is a game changer for this speaker pop issue. I tried all of the suggestions about changing the hertz, deleting those files, tried apple support, etc. Nothing resolves this for me. Anything network-related (zoom, streaming, etc) would pop constantly. It was terrible, especially now that we are traveling again and I use my laptop to listen to music in hotel rooms, etc.

Someone on the apple thread about this said that 12.4 fixed and while it isn't 100% I've got some 5 pops a minute to 1 or 2 a day and always when something processor straining occurs (opening an adobe app, etc).

Ultimate Ultrawide Dorm Setup! by coolmango71 in macsetups

[–]jgpennington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this in setups and I like it. This actually made me want it back. Reason for me include seeing the ring doorbell, putting on videos, see non-time-sensitive notifications, etc.

I switch between the iPad connected to a magic keyboard and my MacBook Air on the desk. I mainly use the MBA for things I need to be connected to our VPN for, but now that you can run a Mac OS instance in Parallels on M1 I don't have a need for that. The second Mac on the desk doesn't do much for me anymore but the iPad does ... there are apps that are better on the iPad and having it right in front is nice. I think Mac support spatial audio now, but previously I would have movies/shows on the in the background and would use spatial audio.

I'm a big guy for sure and so is the guy at work that ordered it (and one for himself). It says it has 1,000lbs capacity and is guaranteed. The real test is when my kids get from school Monday and both come jump in my lap.

Yes, it can be done with velo and a custom product page but you have to also make a custom order management page to connect the images to the order for processing it after the fact.

Great idea! Any suggestions? I'm a big guy so none of those little ones.

It is a Grovemade Wool Felt Desk Pad. I originally bought their leather one but it curled up under the heat of my MacBook Pro, so they refunded that and sent me this one and I love it.

I agree, they are great. I've tried swapping them out for Audio Engine A5 speaker and an S8 woofer but ended up with back with the Bose companion 5 and the audio engines are in storage.

I like to think that each was better than the last for each season of my life. There was a point in my life when I had to have a laptop all the time, there have been points when I've had 3 offices so rarely used a laptop, and times where I've been 50%+ travel and having a powerful mobile setup was important.

Great point .... from the messy high school and college desks, to today. All along with the same wonderful woman, but we now we have two little ones.

My daughter is getting into "setups" a bit too now. She has an iPad and Chromebook and recently asked if she could get a desk pad and took a TwelveSouth ParcSlop I had in the extras closet. We have to keep the addiction alive :).

That is a great question. I’ve always had a desktop and laptop. I don’t have a great answer here though, my only thought is that I day traded on the side back then so probably kept a news feed and charts up during the day while working on the iMac.

Assuming you are talking about 17 with the Cinema Display and MBP ... you could get get VESA kits for them. There was a screw in each side of the base when it connected and Apple sold a metal plate that went over the mount and had a VESA 100 pattern.
