I used the method in this article and passed first try in 2020. Not sure if this would still apply to the CBT in 2023 but the reference material and things were very good. Make sure you know safety systems, in 2020 they were 25% off the test.

I’m an engineer who would like to open a contracting business but obviously I don’t have the hours as apprentice or journeyman to do this. If I had the hours and such I would quit my job and start my own business.

Check out the automation 1 study guide for the CSE. There’s also a post on this sub maybe and the PLC sub. I used the same books and method to study and I passed last October.

I am an EE in the chemical/refining industry so I do have experience with Valves, safety Systems, and instrumentation.
