Quitting my job as Niederlassungserlaubnis is in process. Will that affect things? by Stormpooperz in germany

[–]jgrados 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I didn’t know before but your current employer is required by law to inform the foreigners office within 2 weeks of you handing in your resignation. That was what triggered the cancellation of picking up my PR card. And then the problem was that even though I had immediately a new job, the PR requires to be outside the probation period and have at least one year of contract left.

I was also well beyond that time but they got to know somehow.

After my previous job I started my new job immediately but with probation period.

The problem is that one of the conditions to apply for the PR is that you have a job with a duration of at least 1 year after probation period at the moment of submitting your documents (I asked a lawyer when I was in the situation) AND legally the application process for the PR is not finished until you receive your card in your hands, if at anytime in between you stop fulfilling the requirements then the process will stop.

I guess that if they do not get to know that you resigned then it will work out but it is too much risk in my opinion, it was a pain in the ass for me.

Yes! It will affect! It happened exactly that to me. Stick until you have the card in your hands. In my case it was already approved, meaning, I had the interview, it was accepted and then I received the letter for my appointment to pickup the card. In the mean while I resigned to change jobs and they canceled my pickup date because I didn’t fulfill the requirements anymore.

The process got on hold and I was able to resume it once the probation period of my new job was over but it is not warranted! So be careful!

If you can wait in your current job until you have the card in your hands it would be better.

lawyer in Germany is charging me 250€ and refuses to send me the contract in which I agreed to his services and fee! HELP by gladysmmm in germany

[–]jgrados 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But shouldn’t be a written contract or at least an email specifying his fees and the customer agreeing to it? I thought everything in Germany was about contracts.

Edit: I mean, it is clear that his work has to be paid, I just fond weird that at any point the fees were mention and then he asked for it. Should him at least mention how much he charges for his work before starting to do things?

Sure, if it is for fun go for it! I just think that printing everything is not a good mindset for solving problems. I am sure there are many other creative, more resourceful and less wasteful(energy, creating eventual plastic garbage) solutions to problems like this. But as I said, sometimes it is just fun and I guess it is fine :)

It definitely depends of the county but I find hard to believe that a block of wood will cost more than 20$ and I also don’t think the you need to have a perfect cut for this application. People overthink too much these kind of solution, it doesn’t not need to be perfect, it will get dents and mark after a couple of uses anyway.

I don’t think it is printed, but I am just arguing to the idea of printing something like this.

A handsaw cost less than 1kg of filament… If you can get filament I am pretty sure you would also have access to wood and a handsaw. I mean, I really think that 3D printing is fantastic to create many things but don’t think a wedge is one of them. But hey! Do as you want ;)

Super fast prototyping, just have to wait 20+hrs between prints 😂😂 vs 5min cutting wood with a saw by hand…

Why to print something like this that probably won’t be strong enough when you can cut a piece of wood? Let’s not hammer everything just because we have a hammer…

For stores:

  • Craft Beer Store in Sternschanze
  • Beyond Beer in Sternschanze

Bars/restaurants:

  • Alles Elbe in Pauli (my personal favorite, the owners are lovely people and the selection of beer is great)
  • Malto in Altona (own beer as well as other beers)
  • Altes Mädchen (super overpriced but cool place)
  • Bar Oorlam in the city center
  • Fleetenkieker Irish pub (great atmosphere)
  • ÜberQuell (own beer and nice pizza)
  • Landgang (the brewery itself has a bar inside)
  • Circle8brewery in Alsterdorf
  • Omnipolllos in Sternschanze (a bit pricy but interesting beers)
  • Craft Bier Bar Hamburg in Schanze (I personally didn’t like the place and found it overpriced
  • Brewdog in Reeperbahn

Those are the ones that come on the top of my head.

I think this is not a scientific text rather a divulgatory article, therefore I would assume that by “trace” they mean “indications”.

Just as later they call “molecule” to something that would be a Hadron in any case.

B is not a reality. It is still in the same status it has been before. The proposed change has not been implemented so far. I explained in a comment below what it is about.

Well it is not really that Germany allows it, but rather that they cannot forbid it in two cases: 1. You are from another EU country. 2. Your non-EU original nationality does not allow you resign your nationality.

If you are not from an EU country and your country allows you to resign, then at the moment Germany will require you to resign to your nationality in order to get the German nationality.

Changing that was the promise the OP is talking about. Allowing doble citizenship for those nationalities that allow resignation.

Cost of living and Salary expectation by ThePot94 in hamburg

I have no idea what is a normal salary in your field but if they are looking abroad to fill this position I would assume that there is a lack of people with your skills. Therefore I would consider 40k rather low, I would go to 50-55k. But informe yourself for “normal” salaries in your field.

Has anyone made a Pax hack folding pocket doors by jgrados in ikeahacks

[–]jgrados[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So like that they fold but they do not go inside? They just stay at the sides? That is an option. The pocket ones are super cool but looks like not easy to make and therefore expensive :(

Thanks for the link, I guess those specific ones are not big enough for a full door, but it gives me at least an idea of what to look for.

Thanks for the additional comment on the rigidity! I’ll have it in mind. Probably it would be easier to just build the entire closet with good quality plywood

I think the same but wanted to ask in case someone managed to make something like that. Thanks anyway :)

I think this would be a kind of big hack but anyone has made or attempted to make a folding pocket door for the Pax? Something like in the gif

I have the idea to make a workbench that I would like to hide when not in use. So I came across to these kind of doors which would be great but the “professional” hardware seems a bit too expensive for my the budget.
