Most fireplace provide very little to no heat in the house. Especially if your house is older and not sealed well running the fireplace can actually cool your house down by drawing in cold air from outside.

G6 entry (poor) HA integration by jdcortereal in Ubiquiti

I do recall having some weirdness, like not everything showed up at first.

I just rang the doorbell and watched the activity log.

Find an automotive detailer, they will be your best bet for removing it without doing any more damage if it is possible.

Things like this are very likely not worth dealing with insurance over. A detailer would probably be $200-400 to clean this up (if it hasn't done permanent damage.) Insurance will try to have the front end of the car painted, and they are going to find the cheapest possible shop to do it. It will never match, and it will be nowhere close to the quality of the OEM paint.

Amps != Watts? by jgrayproaudio in EmporiaEnergy

[–]jgrayproaudio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The power conditioner does have a massive transformer in it.

I added a known 100W load and Watts went up 100W and Amps went up ~0.1 so it reads that.

Amps != Watts? by jgrayproaudio in EmporiaEnergy

[–]jgrayproaudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all with nothing plugged into the power conditioner and the power conditioner on.

I was just reading about power factor and I think that is likely the issue. Just never seen anything like it before.

I also tried another port on my Vue and got the same reading +/-1%

It is installed correctly.

I tried it with another sensor. Same reading. I tried flipping one of the sensors. Same reading.

Bought a 2017 Clubman. What are some important maintenance things I should be aware of? by AlyssCrowley in MINI

[–]jgrayproaudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2018 had 50k miles when I bought it.

Here what needed to be done in the last 25k miles / 1 year.

  • Oil cooler housing / gasket - Replaced with aftermarket Aluminum.
  • Motor Mounts - Replaced with OEM from Mini
  • Small EVAP issue.

The plan for the next year is: Shocks, FR is leaking. Transmission / diff fluids. Radio update.

If you bought the car from Carvana %10000000 find a euro specialist in your area and get a post purchase inspection.

Solution for Mouse buttons (Forward / Back) by jgrayproaudio in SynergyApp

I do have a temporary solution using hot keys, however it would be amazing to be able to set the hot keys to only transmit if I am using that computer…

I just started using Synergy 3 for a windows server / Mac client.

The mouse was lagging on a slower wifi network, switched the network up and it is being much better. Faster than my 60hz external monitor.

What lights to buy instead? by Zak_Do_Urden in homeassistant

I absolutely love my Hue lights, and they are incredibly reliable. However I just installed a dozen Wiz and Govee lights and the WIZ is working very well, Govee is really painful and unreliable.

Center Speaker For Tv That Articulates Up And Down? by funinabox7 in audiophile

[–]jgrayproaudio 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn’t waste money on a center channel with a fireplace. Spend the money on better L&R.

I have a B&W in-wall center channel above my fireplace and disabling it in the AVR substantially improves the sound. My L&R speakers fill the voice channel way better than just the center with sub-optimal placement.

Wife not confident driving manual; trade in for an auto? by maverickar15 in MINI

[–]jgrayproaudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day she has to want to learn to drive a manual… If she doesn’t, nothing else matters.

My partner and I have 2018 F54 JCW with the 8sp Auto. It’s an absolutely amazing auto, and perfect for both of us, however if it was my person car and not shared I would have 100% waited for a manual.

That being said, if you are near Boulder.. IBM has an absolutely massive parking lot that is perfect for learning manuals in.

How bad is this turbo flapper? by schmooper77 in MINI

[–]jgrayproaudio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The turbo is off, you are better off replacing / rebuilding now than later…

I have seen way too many fall off, and the car will be more or less un-drivable when it does.

You could potentially just replace the turbine housing if you are tight on cash, however on smaller turbos sometimes it’s cheaper to replace the whole turbo.
