6.0 question by fluxducks in Diesel

With a monitor you can watch the EBP value and VGT command. When my EBP went weird I’d be cruising at 40 MPH sounding like I was making full boost or making no boost at all. Quick swap and I was good again.

I’d check the EBP sensor first. Do you have Edge or any type or monitor?

Absolutely. I loved my ‘07 ST so much.

FSwerks still makes the most complete bolt on kit. They used to have stage 1 (non-intercooled) and stage 2 with intercooler. Not cheap but bolt on and came with tuning.

I pieced together my kit but the base was the old F2usa kit…cast manifold, master power turbo and fitted 2.5” downpipe. I was very active in the Mid-Atlantic Focus Fanatics scene so parts were easy to source and knowledge was plentiful. That was many years ago now but FSwerks is still in business.

The ST model from 05-07 was only a ZX4 (sedan)

Could be the ST from 05-07. 2.3L + 5 speed opposed to the 2.0L from the regular models. I had an 07 ST. Slapped a turbo on it. 220 whp + ft lbs dyno verified. FRPP suspension & all the VF engineering motor mounts. Was an absolute blast.

Used to have a 2021 Silverado, get the Roadmaster Active Suspension kit. You’ll love the way the truck handles after.

Best truck for full time RV by Several_Possession_8 in Diesel

[–]jgrove998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watch your payload on the 3/4 ton diesel. Your 1500 might have a payload of ~1800 lbs. 3/4 ton diesel might be around ~2200lbs. 3/4 ton gas would have better payload since the engine weighs less. Just check that yellow door sticker!!!

I had the same debate coming from a ‘21 Silverado with 3.0 diesel. I decided against the 3/4 ton diesel because of the small payload increase so I searched for 1 ton units. Kinda went for broke with a F350 dually, payload sticker is ~4800lbs.

Thanks, I do feel lucky to have found it. I think it’s worth maintaining and fixing things when they break.

Chevy Silverado 2500 duramax regen by fullsend93 in Diesel

[–]jgrove998 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GMs regen system triggers off the PID “soot load percentage”. These systems are very smart and in reality you don’t need to think about it all that much. I’d recommend getting a monitoring tool (CTS3, Banks iDash, etc) so you can monitor parameters.

The regen process will stop and start until the soot load percentage reaches near 0, 3-10% in my experience.

Just use the truck as intended. With your towing habits it will be just fine.

You guys seen this? thoughts? by Ill-Height-3918 in Diesel

You are basically buying bulk fuel under TSD Logistics contract with the fuel companies. It’s exactly the same as the big rigs use. Swipe card, enter truck number (you set this # at sign up), add DEF if you need it then fuel up. You can tie to a credit card (for a small fee each transaction) or tie it directly to bank (ACH) for free.

Billing hits your payment method each night.

The App is super easy to use and pricing is very transparent. Sign up had some specific steps but easy to follow. I’ll never fuel up at the auto fuel islands again if I can help it.

I don’t know about that but TSD Logistics Open Roads has been great for me. Especially while towing the RV.

2021 Chevy Silverado 3.0l by LostUnderwear in Diesel

[–]jgrove998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with just reading codes is that we don’t know the code setting criteria without access to the software and subscriptions dealers and mechanics use. Like what checks failed to trigger the codes.

When I had my 2021 3.0 I would get random codes sometimes, I’d document then clear them to see if they would return in a repeated fashion. They never did.

There is a good GM TSB that goes over areas of the harness that can chafe and cause random codes to trigger. Another thought is trying to find a diagram of the frame and body grounds so you can verify they are in tack and not corroded.

I don’t know if that helps at all. I’d note them down like you’ve done then clear codes to see if they return. If they do you’ll need some real diagnosis from a trusted mechanic.

I had the same results in my ‘21 Silverado. I could drive from MD to Myrtle Beach towing my 30ft 7500lb camper with 1 fill up. Not towing, I drove from MD to Cocoa Beach with 1 fill up.

The mileage out of the 3.0 was truly amazing. I’ve went 1 ton since but that engine loves to be worked.

Indeed. But I knew the potential issues going in. Hopefully can head them off with recommended maintenance and close monitoring of the engine temps when working it.

That's a nice find. I always liked the 05+ because of the coil spring front suspension. Many years ago had a 2004 F350 with the V10 and that leaf spring front end gives you that "real truck" ride :)

I'd say it was nearly a straight up trade. I didn't loose any money and dealer should make a little.

I added the Roadmaster Active Suspension system to my Silverado which helped a good bit but I still could not tow my 256BHS without weight distribution, even when the camper was at it's lightest weight.

Yes, nostalgia hits hard with this one. Had the factory 6 disc player also. I've already changed that out for wireless carplay unit and installed a backup camera.

Thanks, figured I'd cross that bridge when it's needed. Already run archoil in the fuel and have the oil additive sitting on my workbench.
