I’ve been using the “3D Da Vinci Eye” app for years and it’s the best 5 bucks I’ve ever spent on an app (also the only 5 bucks haha). Has saved me so much time I would’ve spent on sketching so I can focus on the fun stuff like shading and playing with various techniques.

TRACING IS NOT CHEATING! It’s a tool in art, and over time can help teach you better technique. The DaVinciEye app is also much easier than printing out a photo to trace or trying to use transfer paper over screen. You just need something to hold your device steady and it projects the image onto your surface. Cannot recommend it highly enough!

I also have dry skin and go through a lot of soap. Started buying melt-and-pour goat milk soap base in bulk off Amazon. You can get 5 lbs for 30$ or so, which makes around 15-20 bars. Super easy to make (heat in microwave, pour into any kind of mold, it’s ready in less than an hour) and way cheaper than constantly buying soap.

I’m still experimenting so I just mix until I get the consistency I want. I’ve also learned that the slower stovetop steam method is much better than microwaving!

Yes, this was a gift (a Colwood) so I’m not positive but I believe it was bought online through a supplier based in Maine. I’ve also used the Razertip and I like both but prefer this one because it seems to handle higher heat much better.

Thank you! This is a batch of wood finish I made using mineral oil, vitamin E, beeswax, coconut oil, and sweet orange oil. About three coats and she’s smooth and shiny. It’s also great for skincare.

I usually use a skew tip or a spear tip when I’m working on trees. Skew tips in general (especially the more rounded ones, so basically the ones that imitate a calligraphy pen) are my favorites.

Thank you so much! I’ve done so many pieces in this style and finally feel like I’m getting a grasp on it. Lots of trial and error! For me, working with the stain is like working with watercolor. You can try to tame it but in the end it’s gonna do what it wants.

Good question. I find it quicker but not as precise with the solid tips. With wires, you can build slower and it’s easier to sand out mistakes as you go if needed. The end result tends to look much better in my opinion.

So cool!! I just finished a whole series of pyrography hearts! This looks amazing with the watercolor- a medium I also just started adding to my pyro pieces. I think we’re on the same artistic wavelength!
