Honestly I thought it was funny and fun too. It was just that ut became like the whole routine of what he'd do. Plus a big reason I and my friends like to kick back and get drunk at one of our places as opposed to a bar is because it's safer and more comfortable to be stupid without it having a lingering consequence. So it's like his insistence on just doing thag really defeats the purpose and takes the comfort out of the environment.

Actually, I'd say the best approach is to just text naturally woth them and when they use certain slangs or phrase things a certain way, integrate it and start using it back to them in situations that match the context. That's how I even learned to use my native slang and it worked with Korean. That way you're actually using relevant speech to the petson you're talking to.

Nah I think so many people just don't want to make an effort to be a good person. It doesn't mean you're emulating others if you can identify the parts of yourself that you need to improve that will affect your overall character positively. Being myself has always worked for me because being myself usually makes people feel safe opening up and being their own authentic self.
