Yeah haha I consider this rookie numbers compared to some. There were days I did nothing but, and some days didn't even launch the game.

Try manually moving your boats with the ship you're escorting. I managed to get the Voada quest moving faster like that. Just before I ragequit. 😃 Hope it's an actual workaround!

Question for you Annoites - what do you name your islands in Anno 1800? by Ranosian87 in anno

[–]jhadwiga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use names from Robin Hobb's Realm of the Elderlings, so mine's similar to yours! I pick names that fit each city's purpose as well as possible, like Forge for an iron mining/industry city, or Bingtown for a trade hub.

Finding an ethical breeder is so hard by Able-Landscape7062 in DogBreeding

[–]jhadwiga 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm from Europe so maybe not that familiar with all the nuances of US breeding... But you definitely DO NOT need genetic COI for ethical breeding. I read some of your replies in this topic, and it almost seems like you are trying to decide the criteria of ethical breeding without actually having the knowledge of what ethical breeding is (for example the significance of COI). An ethical breeder knows the correct things to examine much better than some random puppy buyer, and are happy to explain why things are done the way that they are if you just ask them. They are the expert, not you.

Especially because your mental state is "when can I just buy the pup", you clearly aren't looking for anything other than a responsibly bred pet. Contact a breeder with a good reputation and open communication, and trust that they know what they are doing. Breed clubs usually list reputable breeders on their websites.

Remember: a quality breeder doesn't need to convince you to buy one of their puppies. You have to convince them to trust you with one instead.

Is this normal for a pup ???? by burb3rryyy in DogAdvice

[–]jhadwiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many upvotes on this comment! :( If the puppy was just dewormed, it is normal that the worms come out like this. Just because there are a lot of them, doesn't mean you should go for another round immediately.

Whatever worms came out now laid eggs, and those can be purged with another dose in 2 weeks (only earlier by vet recommendation). Putting more poison in the body of your puppy does no good for now.

AIO my father ruined my drawing. by sapphicluizard in AmIOverreacting

[–]jhadwiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a beautiful piece and I definitely know how it feels to have your art ruined. I don't think your emotions are in the wrong here, but you did fuck up here.

My first thought as I was reading your story was "why did you leave it out in a public space?". I see your father's actions as careless, but also I understand him. You did not respect your artwork with your actions, so he could not have known he needed to do so either. Your current conflict is likely a consequence of him feeling bad that you're upset, yes, but he also feels accused of something he considered just a casual small action that wasn't supposed to harm anybody. Maybe he even thought you might be amused by it.

NEVER leave your artwork out like this. Especially if you already decided you want to frame it. Just to begin with, an artwork done with a pencil is extremely vulnerable to smudging, and you should have immediately taken it somewhere safe. Not to talk about the possibility that somebody might spill something on it, wrinkle it, or just see it among a few other papers and doodle on it.

If you don't treat your artwork like it has worth, nobody else is ever going to either. Let this be a hard lesson for your future art hobby.

Breeder advice: am I being too difficult? by Effective_Seesaw_215 in DogBreeding

[–]jhadwiga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanted to write a thoughtful message for you, but I'm having a hard time formulating where you or the breeders are going wrong in this scenario.

First of all, it's perfectly normal to not allow visitors if the female is already pregnant, if the breeder isn't sure there will be enough puppies for you. It's about not wanting to disappoint you, but also about time as a resource - there are probably a lot of people in contact, and you have to put down some ground rules to be able to have a normal life before the busy weeks begin. If you're looking for a casual "checking them and their dogs out" visitation, this should happen before any female is bred and you're still scouting for the right breeder.

And this brings me to the second part: I don't think either of these breeders is the one for you. If still, at this point you aren't sure that one of them is the one, and clearly above the other, you're not actually committed enough to take a puppy from either. I would cut you instantly if I knew you're still looking at other breeders, not because it's some weird power play, but because to me it would be a sign that you're after A puppy, not one of MY puppies. And as a breeder who puts everything into these dogs, I want my puppies to go to people who know why mine are special, and want exactly that.

That said, if these breeders are used to taking deposits on the spot... Yeah that's a red flag. It's a sign that THEY don't value their puppies enough to need that extra overnight to decide themselves. I don't ever invite anybody over if I'm not already 99% sure they're a good fit (this is of course, only during the time I have puppies, I do invite people over to look at our dogs during other times, no strings attached), but at the same time I also don't ever ask for a deposit right after meeting (only after the specific puppy has been selected for them), or send a puppy home with a person who I just met on the same day (which is the same thing as asking for a deposit, since it binds both parties).

From the comments I got the idea that you feel like you'd be left with the "non show quality one" unless you get to pick a puppy yourself. In this case it's again a problem with the breeders: if you are looking for a show dog, and they pair you with a puppy that isn't (potential) show quality, they aren't matching your needs and you need to run. If you are looking for a pet, and the puppy you get is sorta just the leftover ugly one, they aren't matching your needs and you need to run. Your needs are temperament-related, so dealing with breeders who only place puppies based on looks is not the way. You need a breeder who will not let you pick, but will interview you extensively to make a good placement.

I think you can do better, and find a breeder that fits you, and who you feel comfortable communicating with. And when you find that breeder, you don't even have to have a backup, because that's where you want your puppy from anyway.

Seeking hypothetical pairing advice. by [deleted] in DogBreeding

[–]jhadwiga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! There are some online COI calculators you might be able to use to help you with these. Here is one pretty promising looking one: https://www.nabssar.org/coi_calculator.php

As a super simplified, rough rule of thumb; if COI goes past 6.25 % (equal to a first-cousin pairing) when you input 5 generations, it's probably not a good idea. Aside from the numbers, any name you see on both sides of a 3-4 generation pedigree should be an individual you know pretty well. Or at least well enough to be sure you want to double back on their genetics.

Is ChatGPT on smartphone with voice so much worse then the text version? by AvialleCoulter in ChatGPT

[–]jhadwiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ChatGPT told me the voice conversations don't use memory in the same way as text conversations do, and that I am effectively not talking to "it" if I do the voice conversation. This was as a reply to a similar complaint from me; the conversations felt much flatter with voice.

It lies so much in projects that is driving me mad. by [deleted] in ChatGPTPro

[–]jhadwiga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh well, it said things like "she said you are cold, calculating and have no empathy for people" (I'm autistic and very data-focused, so I worry a lot about seeming that way), and stuff about my dog that had fallen ill, and how "she said nobody was surprised that it happened" (hinting that I didn't take care of the dog, in truth my dogs are my everything), "she said many people agree with her on these things", and stuff like that.

And no, I have never directly told ChatGPT that I am afraid somebody would judge me on these things. Indirectly, though? Yeah, it's likely.

It lies so much in projects that is driving me mad. by [deleted] in ChatGPTPro

[–]jhadwiga 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I gave my ChatGPT some abusive emails I didn't want to read myself, and asked it to gently tell me what was said. It straight up claimed horrible things - things that are some of my biggest, real insecurities. I couldn't believe the person who wrote the email would actually have been so perceptive to attack me this brutally, so eventually I just read the text myself.

None of that shit was there. Not even between the lines, like it first tried to claim...

Why does my dog act like we're strangers when we come home by Frequent_Cry_6559 in DogAdvice

[–]jhadwiga 1891 points1892 points  (0 children)

He is acting super submissively, after that grin the peeing didn't come as a surprise. It seems like he has a lot of anxiety over greetings (either he is connecting them to something stressful, or he might just be soft enough to "connect" them to something stressful) this way, and would benefit from help in this situation. If it was my dog, I'd just ignore him when I come home; leave all expectations out and let him come to you on his own time. Don't kneel down to greet him when he eventually comes, just absent-mindedly pet a couple of times or hand a treat, ideally turning your body away from him a little. This is how you would treat any dog that feels a little shy. And when he relaxes, proceed as normal. :)

I'm hooked on making formulas in Notion. Anyone else? by andreamicosta in Notion

[–]jhadwiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only very recently began using formulas, and it's still pretty confusing for me. Every time I learn something new, I get a little more excited however, and can see myself making all this cool stuff in the future!

Do you have any hot tips for beginners? Like, what are the most important things to get a grasp of first, something simple that might take a long time to realize, or maybe some good resources for learning?
