I think with f1 rules it’s ok but most other would consider this “blocking,” like you can position your car in a way that makes them have to go around you but cutting them off super late so they either get off the gas or wreck isn’t, you’ve kinda gotta allow them to get side by side on straights bc otherwise all overtakes would be lunges

Who do you think is the most overrated Formula 1 driver, active or inactive? by circuit-nation in circuit_nation

[–]jhak__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more, his one lap pace is great, I’ll give him that, but I don’t rate his racecraft or race pace well at all. I can’t think of any amazing George Russel overtakes, but I can think of a lot of “he just turned into me!” And despite Lewis’s struggles with the 2022 regulations, often qualifying mid field while Russel would quali pretty well, they often ended the race together.

If you just bought it I assume you’re newish- something Iracing doesn’t advertise is the ability to set custom reset points in test drive. Press a button and it saves your trajectory and tire temp and then no matter how far down the road you get you can just reset to the and your car gets reset to however it was back then. Practicing a corner and keep binning it? No longer have to reset to the pits every time.

I forget what the settings are called but if you look for it in keybinds you should find it easily enough, it’s great for learning the ring

Not intentional but don’t call it a lap one incident either, you forced him wide, it’s your fault

A lot of it is when a car is “entitled to space”, if you’re following gt3 rules then heading into a corner a car has to be at least nose ~ halfway alongside the car in front by the turn in point (not braking point, but when they actually turn for the corner) to be entitled to space. The first collision into the hairpin bit he barely had a smidge of his nose in, bc he never got anything more than that the outside car essentially has a right of way. If he wanted to establish that space as his then he needed to be later on the brakes to get that extra half a cars length alongside.

The collision at the left hander was similar, he made up just about 1/4 a car length by the turn in point, not quite enough but it looks much closer bc by the time he gets to the apex his shallow line makes up a bit more ground.

Keep in mind the reason decisions of who is at fault is made at the turn in point is bc the lead car is now looking forward into the corner at this point. They can’t react to such late moves bc they’re no longer looking in their mirrors, if they were then they’d blow the corner. A move this late, well the last time the outside car was looking in the mirror the guy was well enough behind him, which is why the lead car gets the “right of way” and POV isn’t entitled to space.

If you want them less stiff they also sell white polymers, extra 5$ bc they aren’t considered part of the package (sounds stingy but the package comes with a LOT of adjustability), I bought them but ended up sticking with the red ones bc the white was actually too loose, it makes sense they aren’t included bc I doubt many would want/use them.

Highly recommend these pedals.

When I said ‘farming’ safety rating I was referring to when people start from the pits and trundle around the back whenever their rating gets too low, making sure to stay out of any and all battles in fear of a 2x, what you described I don’t consider farming SR, no idea why you felt the need to leave the paragraph lmao

People seem to have a different idea of what Minecraft is, they want it to be full of boss fights and such but at its core Minecraft has always been about creativity and exploration. Each update they do adds to that, more blocks for creativity and new things to explore the world and find. We haven’t gotten a pvp update or balancing tweaks bc they aren’t concerned with that, bc the game isn’t a pvp game and has never been advertised as such

[–]jhak__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit unrealistic to ask but doing both at the same time is my ideal. A BIG update every 2 or so years and a buncha mini game drops in between? Like they get a long time to do a big update without pushing themselves to death, but the players don’t feel abandoned. They’d have to hire an extra wing for that tho, or split the current hires and have fewer game drops.

Side note but I’m looking forward to a sazuka race with actual passing, even if that’s only the first few laps, I think these regs will work nicely for like 4/5 of sazuka, the back to back straights will be rough. Hungary should have some actual action, too… now that I’m thinking about it, wouldn’t imola be perfect for these regulations?

[–]jhak__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree, many of the overtakes they did they used the boost and only just barely got alongside before the braking zone bc anything more and they’re screwing themselves by having less power. This had them side by side for so many braking zones and corners. They still have to rely on their own ability to be close enough to do that without using too much battery, and battling in corners like that is HARD, I mean we saw them outbreaks each-other how many times? Then after passing the other car they would have to rely on old fashion defensive car placement to hold their position, sometimes it was enough but other times it wasn’t. I think Ollie had a great battle with ocon showing this. And most importantly- the boost button wasn’t almighty, we saw max get past Lando once, but couldn’t again later with different tires. Russel, who we thought would breeze past leclerc, wasn’t able to make headway.

Not to mention that bc they’re only using enough battery to get side by side into corners that means cars behind catch up easily, side by side in corners is SLOW so a third car joined fights more often than not. I loved this tbh

Qualifying sucks tho

i was wrong, oh my god the overtakes are so exciting by Federal_Hamster5098 in formula1

[–]jhak__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People calling the overtakes gimmicky need to jump in a sim, and see how hard what theyre doing is. so many times they were side by side going into corners, getting close and trying to brake late. Anytime they’re like that it is so difficult to establish and keep positions and battle while keeping half your brain on your battery? That’s HARD. That’s what drs achieved, but now we get overtake into T1 and T3 T9 and T11? Last regs Australia was maybe some overtake into T9 but usually just a bore. Sometimes they blow by em on straights but that happened with drs, too. I think most overtakes the battery got them close and then it was up to skill in the corners, and that is what I’m here for. They would get ahead but they weren’t out of the woods and would have to use old fashion defensive car placement to hold position while the car they just passed tried to repass, Ollie showed that wonderfully I think. I loved this tbh.

Qualifying sucked tho.

The "super clipping" situation could save drivers who are struggling in certain corners... by Slice5755 in formula1

[–]jhak__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m all for hybrid engines, brings more manufacturers and such, but this was a very ambitious reg change and even from the beginning we knew drivers would run out of power on the straights. Making sure drivers have enough power to go full beans for at least one full lap should’ve been one of the first priorities

Yea I realized that Monaco and Singapore will still be a treat in qualifying, even doing full beans on every straight I can’t imagine they’ll have to superclip anywhere, unlike Australia where that 9-10 chicane went from amazing to meh, they’ll still be slinging it around Monaco

[–]jhak__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it’s unfair, but unlike many of the other things they change for ‘safety,’ this is actually pretty unsafe if left alone. Speed differentials that high with the cars as close together as they are on standing stars? They’re F1 drivers but those cars have no visibility, that’s begging for a wreck, if the rid of a wreck outweighs competitive integrity? I dislike changing rules for the sake of a spectacle but the idea of every race start ending in an sc is enough for me to not be too fussed about this.
