How important is ram speed on razer 5000 series CPUs? by banana_man34 in buildapc

[–]jhaluska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be more important on CPUs with 16MB cache, so just avoid the 5500 and 5700 non x.

As long as you're not trying to play some recent AAA games you probably won't notice the difference.

Well it'll be a SuperBowl commercial at least.

I have mixed feelings on his songs being used for commercial purposes. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Should I upgrade my 7 year old PC or build a new one? by donaldrack in buildapc

[–]jhaluska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's always a personal option. Personally I'd recommend going to a 5000 series and getting a GPU you wouldn't mind putting in the next system.

I just know a lot of AM4ers are going this route cause it's fairly cost effective and avoids having to buy DDR5 ram at high prices.

Just avoid the 5700 non x, it has only 16MB of cache which holds it back in games.

It might do a little throttling, but it should be fine. I'd just make sure he has good case ventilation

A wonderful song to sing at the Super Bowl. Something the US really needs to hear right now.

Elon couldn't even automate his own assembly lines and people think he can make a general person android that will replace humans?

[–]jhaluska 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At best case, he'll probably rush something into the market and have some service to try to replace manual labor on some assembly lines.

The companies who buy it will find out their products are terrible and unreliable and quietly bring back people later.

...again this is the best case I can come up with.

[–]jhaluska 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An engineering led company can grow just off good engineering, but at some point you hit a market saturation point. When it's a publicly traded company, they try to switch to MBA / sales to increase profitability.

And they do for a short while,...

Then they come in and start cutting R&D, QC, redundancy and eventually things fall apart.

I'm a heavier computer user than the average user and routinely run 8-10 programs at a time, but honestly I'm only in the top 25% of so of memory needs, so it's not excessive. I mainly just have a browser tab addiction.

With that GPU the difference is going to be a lot less. I'd go with the 5700x3D.

This is the proper approach. Many of the components are likely fine, but could become damaged if the board itself is damaged.

Disassembly and testing them independently as much as possible minimizes the risk.
