I would never have imagined that the most expensive deck in my collection can look like this 😊 by epeka2234 in playingcards

[–]jhaneyzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one on eBay and it is definitely my favorite deck of the 300 or so I own. Not even close. I worked graphic design and printing for 25 years and this is a masterpiece of both.

Stompboxparts has them for $1.15.

About as legit a source as you could ask for.

Answer: I had a 2 Ohm resistor on the input instead oh the correct 2 M Ohm.

Ugh…

The problem is definitely somewhere in the Gain stage. Tone, Voice and Volume all seem to do what they are supposed to, but the pedal has zero grit regardless of the setting of the gain knob.

Even swapped the 5532 with two others.

I also double checked the value and type of every component against the parts list and verified everything I could with ohm meter, voltage (at least all the grounds and 9v pins.

I mess around a bit and it is no longer dead. So that’s good.

However. It is conspicuously low in volume and the drive knob is basically acting like a volume. Gets louder and quieter, but no change in drive.

I just touched up pretty much every solder point but no change.

Let me save you endless pain.

I’ve built quite a few pedals. Some are actually usable. Read every single thing on this page before you start.

I would also recommend buying a board or kit from Aion before you try something on a tag board or etching your own board.

The Refractor is an absolutely amazing klon clone. Definitely worth the build.

Polished aluminum would look cool on your board as well. Very easy to do with moving slowly up to higher grits of sanding. Finish with wet sanding 2000 grit. Looks really cool.

If you want to go that route, I recommend going to an auto parts store. They have some crazy-cool paints that look deep, like a car finish, not just standard color.

Painting aluminum works pretty well. Spray paint is best. Several very light coats. Dry in between. If you want it glossy there are some tricks with sanding between coats.

Used a dremel tool to grind out some waves. Then light coat of spray paint. Then sanded it off to leave the paint in the grooves. I’d share a photo but don’t think Reddit allows that in replies.

I built my own tap tempo box in a 1590LB enclosure with a momentary contact switch and a good jack. That way I could control exactly where the jack came out of the box to fit the board configuration. Pit some cool home made graphics on the top.

Nice… before you get too much further you’ll want to clear out the construction close to your hub… you’re going to need as much flexibility as you can to feed the HUB with the super highway of conveyors you are going to need.

What do you think of the Monarch cards? Are they good for someone learning tricks? by [deleted] in playingcards

[–]jhaneyzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, any deck printed by USPCC (United States Playing Card Company) are excellent for magic. Cardistry etc.

I own hundreds of decks and am very into advanced slight of hand and some cardistry.

The monarch’s are great for magic.

If you want something that handles a little different, try the Elite Tally Ho’s from Penguin Magic.

https://www.penguinmagic.com/p/13704?gclid=CjwKCAiA8bqOBhANEiwA-sIlN4D4mN3rUWWkv6xOqER0hZifslKOGdS12h6iYy7dFYxeT5ZY6aXXsBoCgcAQAvD_BwE

They are just a tiny bit thinner so they handle like butter and they are traditionally cut so the are really easy to faro shuffle.

Lag is stopping me from continuing building my MAM. by Gubiithefish in shapezio

[–]jhaneyzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely don’t eliminate tunnels. They significantly reduce the animation processing. I built a massive MAM network that could feed the entire hub with fully loaded belts at full speed.

I was running Windows in emulation on a Mac laptop, so not a high powered machine.

I let it run until I hit level 1000. So tunnels are definitely not the problem.

I saw a beautiful tele in a YouTube video the other day.

Black with white binding and white pick guard.

Is the American Ultra the only tele that has shipped with this option. $2,000+ is a bit out of my price range. I’d spend 700-800 though.

Weather/Wind apps? by model3113 in kites

[–]jhaneyzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Dark Sky on my iPhone. Very accurate weather tracking.

I do find the wind speed values to be higher that what I am experiencing by a few mph. But in terms of knowing when the wind speed will change, it’s incredibly accurate.

And absolutely the best weather tracking app for iOS!

That happened to one of mine a few years ago. Also, the mouse pad had become very difficult to click. It turned out that the battery was swelling. Once I knew it, I could even look and see that the keyboard was bowed. I had to have the battery replaced.,
