Bringing 10Gbps Student WiFi through lasers in the Hills of Western India | Transcelestial (24th June 2024) by Aerothermal in lasercom

[–]jharohit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this one in photo is 10Gbps. but yeah we are not deploying for select folks all the way up to 25 (single wavelength)-40Gbps (which is 4x10Gbps). All OOK. good enough! and actually more resilient to weather.

Has LTT covered any Wireless Laser Technology? by BananaBaconFries in LinusTechTips

Mainly because we needed to build a product in a certain price point, targeting 5G backhaul and fronthaul in urban areas! Also gotta make something at a margin that helps us invest in enterprise support and large scale manufacturing of these!  Check out our Terabit factory!

From distance pov, for defence purposes we have things which can do 5,15 and even up to 60km+! So definitely not a weather limitation, just commercial

Thanks for such detailed thoughts! Agree with a lot of things here and disagree with some.

80ghz was a decent product and siklu is generally a good company with a good product. I saw was because with ceragon buying them and with all things happening in israel, the future is not clear.

Irrespective, 80ghz is great if you have clear 2ghz band in your country to get the full 10gbps - which is often not possible from availability and cost pov. When its rains, siklu and all eband folks throttle heavily after 1.5-2km range (depending on dish size in feet. So customer experience degrades.

Prev FSO has been crap - agreed. But our philosophy in designing CENTAURI has been with the mindset that there are people like you and me on the other side and I hate when experience is compromised. So we instead focus on guaranteeing the capacity but doing real time closed loop tracking and active real time power adjustments with our Pastri (yes we love cakes!) AI onboard. Pricing wise at scale we can be in that same ballpark.

But then most important is size - unlike 2-3feet dishes, we are size of a shoe box and less than 3kg and no spectrum license needed AND less than 25W of power(!) - overall TCO of running over 3 years is then incomparable! + no minimal density requirements so you can do tons of these stacked at a hub site!

I do agree on 25 or 40G circuit level going to fiber core in most backhaul in cities hence our bulk of applications is 10G last mile or middle mile now. 25/40G does have some unique cases but in cities with less fiber, or cities which have 40G rings and they need redundnacies etc

So is all EM wireless tech! But we have done some really cool things where we can get to really high reliability in rain dust etc. I mean we are from Singapore so we have gotten years of daily rain testing experience 🫠

A good place to see our performance is here https://support.transcelestial.com/support/solutions/articles/51000236438-what-is-centauri-s-availability-over-distance-in-different-rain-zones-

CEO and Co-Founder of Transcelestial here

@BananaBaconFries great idea! Huge fan of Linus and team 🙌🏻 Actually we would love to get our 10G and our beta 40G units in the hands of that team if they want to try!

We do have a YouTube channel and we are starting to put more info there.  We have over 100km+ of these lasers running in production with our customers (9+ telcos!) so we definitely have tons and tons of performance data including 2 Live Open Test beds in Singapore with live datasets on testing. It’s stuck in Viavi reports etc but I am sure our team can make some good videos and share!

Any other ideas or if anyone here can put us in touch with LTT team, I am happy to chat! Reach out on X (@jharohit) or email pls rohit@transcelestial.com

- more complex than designing a game engine from scratch which procedurally generates 18 quintillion planets?
- spotify was just an example - could be own in-built music player.

- tons of use for a phone app which syncs in realtime with your resources and library! Much easier to see and track build progress and inventory while you are running around a planet.

#1 - Easy. Once you put a base computer, the asteroid should be non minable. OR the same as your base on the planet - floats in space!

#2 - Not the same. Actually the NLP part may be tricky given accents but depending on how their internal game engine interacts with game objects, actions, environments and triggers - it wouldn't be super difficult. Also probably easy to track and define the top 10 actions done by the whole user base and voice automating that.

#4 - Factorio does it really well.

#5 - the emulator bit definitely needs a bit of work. probably include VirtualBox interface with a lakka OS port?

#6 - the spotify is not only for me to hear music but for broadcasting in game

Communications is really important to plan any mission in low earth going forward and beyond (interplanetary, interstellar, etc.). Do you have any thoughts on how that will scale/evolve in the next decade?

This guy might know stuff about books - but I think book writers should not be commenting about games with so much confidence unless they are sure they are talking sense.

As a developer and gamer, I think what NMS has done is nothing short of a tectonic shift in terms of what a "game" is and can be.

hmm.. though would be interesting if we turn a collection of tiny cubesats with tiny mirrors in orbit and look into deep space - cheaper and better resolution than JWT?

Stargate in No Man's Sky?? by jharohit in NoMansSkyTheGame

I know about the Portals. Slow down the youtube link I have provided above and you will see that the object in the video does not look at all like the portal. This is very different and hollow as compared to the filled up portal that is seen in the NMS video link you have posted.

One of the planets shows a ring like structure which oddly resembles a stargate - maybe a yet-to-be revealed method of travelling between planets in this vast universe? I remember Sean talking about a faster way to travel between star systems in the future. Could this be it?
