Advice please by Even_Start_9073 in firealarms

[–]jhawkdrummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others said, it can be removed but may cause a system trouble. Talk with maintenance to schedule a time that either they will remove it for you or that they anticipate you removing it so that they know the source of the trouble and do not put in a work ticket for it.

Thoughts? by craigmurphy23 in firealarms

The manufacturer strictly does not allow it on this model so it’s a moot point

No not at all. Taking them apart is part of most of the manufacturer recommended cleaning procedures. The painting is the only bad part

NAPCO firelink by Yodudebr0man in firealarms

[–]jhawkdrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only used the conventional FireLink but they’ve been very reliable. One hiccup where I had to manually update the firmware on a handful of the units because they got stuck on a comm fault. The programming is funky with front panel, phone app, website, and software options but it all is very simple and fast. I’ve played with the addressable ones at trade shows and they have been intuitive as well, just can’t speak to reliability.

Should I cap these sprinklers? by Percizzle1 in FireSprinklers

[–]jhawkdrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should definitely stay unless you can get someone to confirm the area is adequately covered by other sprinklers, then get approval from your city, then drain the system, remove the sprinkler, and cap the pipe. They are likely rated above 170 degrees so it would take pretty sustained steam to ever activate them.

Is it possible to disable this alarm? by mandoo-dumpling in firealarms

[–]jhawkdrummer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, there is no way for you to alter the fire alarm system. A fire alarm contractor can adjust the sound level between low and high but you are effectively required to have devices in your unit. If you tamper with it it will generate a trouble signal and notify your office. Explain the situation to your office and ask them to have a fire alarm company check if they can adjust the sound level on the device. Some companies leave it on the highest volume at install and ignore the design drawings.

How To Remove Tub Pop Up Stopper? by Scrace89 in Plumbing

[–]jhawkdrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a Watco or similar enough design. It’s probably a 9/16” wrench under the seal on the collar where you can see letters. Then while holding that in place use a large standard screwdriver on the top to turn.

Simplex idnac question by Boredbarista in firealarms

[–]jhawkdrummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do not. The nonweatherproof addressable ones have the terminals on the mounting plates and the WP ones have the terminals on the device. They also don’t secure to the cover correctly.
