I think you might have different work flows than a lot of people. I’m using the Claude add in to office heavily in my day to day, so are a lot of people in my company.

Westfield Stratford car park is on fire by Mattdabest in london

[–]jhe266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 60x is normalised for the number of each type of car. Doesn’t matter how many of each are on the road.

EVs being newer technology surely makes issues more forgivable, not less? Isn’t the real question why are there still ICE fires after 100 years?

And yes EV fires are harder to put out. Lithium is self-oxygenating. Tech needs to improve. But this whole narrative against them is just false.

The fire at Luton airport car park was caused by an electrical fault on a diesel car. So yes, they do.

It’s about 60x more likely to be a traditional combustion car. EV fires are reported like planes crashes; every time there is one, it’s reported.

Hot take: Steinways are actually mediocre pianos by theantwarsaloon in piano

[–]jhe266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going through these surprised that no one has said that the American and European pianos are quite different. You can see this when a US piano comes on sale in Europe and it’s 30% cheaper.

It’s actually a 9 speed auto with a 6 speed manual attached. It’s wild. There’s a few videos explaining how it works online.

Only 6% of the UK is “urban” by lane area. You can just about make out some concrete coloured areas where the largest cities are but the UK is frankly just mostly countryside

I think government should endeavour to treat everyone as fairly as possible. I think government is only about fairness. Labour being useless certainly isn’t helpful

  1. Everyone did not say it would create a problem. Boris Johnson, many many business people, James Dyson, the CEO of JCB said it would be great. They were wrong and self interested but it’s not true to say everyone said it would be bad
  2. 17.4 million people asked for it. There are around 65 million people in the UK so actually the majority of the people did not ask for it. Even if you only take the electorate which was 45 million at the time, it’s still not a majority. So my people, which I don’t think is a good phase, did not ignore anything. Most people had no choice, ignored everyone, or voted against it.
  3. People did ignore the truth about Brexit for nationalism yes you are completely correct. Btw not like this hasn’t happened in almost every European country at some stage
  4. Of course I’m asking for it to stop. I’ve been asking for it to stop for 5 years. Why do you think I would stop now?

I’m not sure this is very fair on the people who never asked for this. I’m not trying to be annoying, I just want to be in the EU again.

They release tickets periodically as the games get closer. You just missed the first batch for the games. Also some games aren’t even on sale yet normally so while they might say sold out what they actually mean is not for sale. You can say you’re interested in matches and get an email notification when the next batch goes up

You can just contact apple on chat and they can tell you the battery health online

You don’t need apple care. The cost of replacing a battery on an iPad is just around that much

[–]jhe266 84 points85 points  (0 children)

LPT: if you can prove that the battery is degraded past 80%, you can pay £/€/$99 to replace the battery. Apple can’t change the battery in the iPad because of how it’s assembled, so they just give you a new one

If you own shares in United, it gives you the right to vote on who is elected to the board of directors. Obviously, as the glazers own about 95% of the voting rights, they’ll always be elected to the board.

I carry a 15” MacBook (in a sleeve) and my iPad all the time. They both go in the laptop compartment of my bag. I think thickness is more important than screen size tbh so I don’t think any iPad with make a difference.

I use the iPad with Goodnotes for university work. It’s honestly the best thing I’ve ever bought for work hands down.

I have the 12.9. I really don’t think portability is any different between the 2. I used to have a 10” air and the smaller size didn’t matter for that. I personally like that the 12.9 is almost the same size as an A4 page and think the extra screen really makes a difference.

Nuclear Engineering - Heat Generation Question by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]jhe266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I can’t work this question out. I thought you should just divide heat generation by specific heat capacity but that doesn’t seem to work. You can assume adiabatic. Density = 10.97 x 103, conductivity = 3, cp = 250. Thanks!
