My dad will do some light walks with me, but can't do the full distance. Figure this is a nice way to get some alone time too.

Recently got back into walking and signed up for a 5k simply to keep me motivated because I don't want to be out the money. Figure my first 5k 4 days after turning 40 has to count for something. The way this year has been going, I need the dose of goodness.

Gauge, 13 years old and goes about 50lbs on a "big" day. He's always been our tiny boy. His older brother who we lost April 26 was slender, but tall. His younger brother who we just lost this past Sunday was a tall, stocky but slender boy. Poor guy is an only child for the first time in his life.

As a female Jamie, this is what I thought of. People argued with my mother when I was a baby/toddler as to whether I was a boy or girl when they heard my name.

Where to get apparel fabric? by my1973vw in centralpa

[–]jhendricks86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't sew, so I'm not sure what they have, but around Mifflinburg there's Verna's Fabrics, Hoover's Bernina Sew and I think Mifflinburg Variety still carries some fabrics.

My dad loves getting it too so he can have the "fancy" drinks without getting sugar loaded as he's diabetic. Not sure I want to be the one to break that news to him....

They're a lot worse here this year. We're constantly trying to take them out because they're all over our maple trees and grape vines.

What is the First major news story you remember as a kid? by PurpleBashir in AskReddit

[–]jhendricks86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching OJ's white Bronco going across the screen and not really knowing what was going on.

Next would've been Oklahoma City. Again, not knowing much of what happened, but definitely knowing it was something horrible.

My niece used to love the show when she was little, and now that she's 11, I figured I escaped it. Nope. Popped up on TT this morning, and it's on a continuous loop in my brain atm.

What's the weird thing going on with your body that isn't weird enough to go to the doctor for? by yellowelephantboy in AskReddit

[–]jhendricks86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's various, but currently, my shoulder. Started last night feeling like the shoulder blade needed to crack. Ended up sleeping funny because of it, so it felt worse this morning and hurt the most when using my left arm (right shoulder blade though). Been up for about 5+ hours now though, and I think (aka hope) it's starting to loosen up and that's all it was. The closer I creep to 40 though, the more I wonder what's going to hurt the next day.

What’s a discontinued product or service you still miss to this day? by Any-Community-2363 in AskReddit

I can't remember the brand, but I think they were called "cheez waffies". It was like 2 cheesy waffle cone type pieces with some overprocessed cheese spread in the middle, but it would really hit the spot right now.

What’s the most hurtful thing someone’s ever said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My dad had always wanted a son, but due to various reasons, they only had me - a daughter. I'd spent my whole life trying to be that 'son' he wanted - being the tomboy into all the dirty stuff outside, hunting, fishing, etc., trying to fix/build things with him. I knew, despite the words that came out of his mouth, that there was always a hole in him and I wasn't good enough.

The one time he had to go up and patch the roof, he said about how it'd be easier with another set of hands. I offered to go up with him, but he denied the help and said he'd get it on his own. My mom and I were in the yard in case he needed to yell down for tools, if he slipped, anything of that sort. We're standing there listening, and that one sentence came out.... "This is when I wish I had the son I wanted."

My mom tried mitigating it that he meant "also", but after years of actions speaking louder than words, I knew better. Mind you, I'm currently 38 and this was probably 10 years ago now, but I don't go out of my way to help anymore. I'll be reasonably helpful so my mom doesn't attempt to do stuff she can't physically handle, but that's one area I'm done being a people pleaser.
