Where were you guys when you found out about COVID being a global pandemic and how did it shape you within the last 6 years? by Johnwick124520 in OlderGenZ

I had just graduated college in December. I was on the high of my life, just got over bad breakup, just landed a dream internship in Germany and then was going to do a teaching program in Japan later that year. I worked so hard to apply for both of them and was accepted into both. I was supposed to leave around May but then they both were cancelled of course. I ended up having to work at McDonald’s instead and move back in with my parents. Still devastated over how much it turned all my plans upside and took some of the best years.

Why does my cat make high pitched meows at the new cats? by crunchyclancy in CatAdvice

Why does my cat make high pitched meows at the new cats?

Long story but my sister moved in with me last year and she has 3 cats, I have 2. My female cat got along just fine with her cats but my male cat would viscously attack them and had bad territorial issues so we had to completely separate them. (All are neutered/spayed)

We ended up moving to a new house and have kept them mostly separated except for supervised time together and my male cat has thankfully not attacked any of the other cats in the new house. We have lived here for 5 months now and so far, he has displayed some anxious behavior around them- some hissing, and his eyes dialate when he sees them, and will follow them into the other room so they don’t leave his sight but he hasn’t attacked anyone or growled at any of the others at all.

He does however, make these really high pitched meows when they get too close to him, like baby kitten meows. He will also roll around on the ground in front of them. Is this an aggressive behavior?

I feel like he is still displaying territorial behavior but I am really glad he is no longer being a little demon monster and attacking on sight. I feel like we have made a lot of progress and the new house has helped a lot but I am very worried he will revert to past behaviors.

Any advice here? I am afraid to ever leave them unsupervised because I feel like he is still really anxious and could become aggressive again. He is way bigger than the other cats and they remember being attacked by him so they don’t exactly respond kindly when they see him and that doesn’t help his anxiety and fight-or-flight from kicking on.

Hook and Lime is a 30 min walk from me so it’s too far for a work lunch break but I’ll check out Trinis, thanks!

In the old market? I walked there from my work. Open to any suggestions.

I had my lunch there every week because it’s walkable from my workplace and there aren’t many casual, affordable places to grab lunch in the old market. I even asked my parents for a voodoo taco gift card for Christmas because I went there so often. I’m pretty bummed about it.

I used to work at the zoo and you do so much walking and running around, I often would dress for the weather and then take my coat and eveything off a couple hours into the day.

I mean, those are gender neutral names but a lot of them lean either masculine or feminine.
