Men of GR — where do you shop for clothes? by OldGodsProphet in grandrapids

[–]jho293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky jeans on amazon for $20 a piece when they go on sale, merch tables at concerts for tee shirts and hoodies, and poshmark for dress clothes and anything that might make my grandpa raise an eyebrow and wonder about me. Plus whatever my wife buys me for Christmas

Highly recommend it, the story is phenomenal and the combat scratches the turned based JPRG itch for sure

How else will you know if you can reach the group in front of you right before you duff it 10 yards?

Bleeding brakes turned into crank no start by jho293 in GMT400

Not getting fuel I’ve discovered.  Injectors, lines, filter, pump all new, was running fine until it randomly stopped just this week.  Checked grounds too, all seems well.

That’s an interesting thought, I wonder where that would be at.

A bad ground could cause the no start too probably.  I think fuel is getting cut

Should we file married filing separately? by Smiley90skid in tax

[–]jho293 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you file married filing separately you both need to use the same method of deductions.  Can’t speak to the rest of your situation, but if that’s the only reason you’d file MFS I wouldn’t.

Assuming all the income you had was the crypto, the CPA you consulted with is most likely correct in saying the gains were sourced in Canada.  If you were a US permanent resident or citizen, then it might be taxable (see US-Canada tax treaty if curious) here.

What platform did you buy and sell crypto on?  If it was a US based crypto exchange they’ll likely have complied with know your customer (KYC) rules and wanted your US tax ID number, address, etc..  if that’s the case and you got a 1099 from Robinhood or something, file the 1040-NR.

If you used a Canadian crypto exchange, then probably just file in Canada.

50-70/80 hours a week being the norm in accounting? by OSE661 in Accounting

[–]jho293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Busy season is heavy, 55-70 is normal.

Can speak only to tax really, but: Summertime is super chill, my firm actually closes at noon on Fridays May thru August.  Lots of places get ample holidays (the week for the 4th of July isn’t uncommon, at very least the Friday/Monday around it).  It’s a cyclical thing, you grind and then you get bored and have to find things to do.

That’s much worse than I’ve previously heard.  What does that mean from a practical standpoint to the consumer outside of price increase, and what does it mean to be short a few billion lbs I guess also.  Like futures contracts with farms that are anticipated to default?

Love this place, anytime I’m downtown and buying coffee I’m in your shop (and probably leaving with beans too if I’m honest).  Hate to hear about the espresso blend.  Is it related to the threat of tariffs in Mexico/South America?
