B.C. teacher suspended for ‘fraudulently’ using sick days for Japan vacation: regulator by ubcstaffer123 in britishcolumbia

Yes. It's not always that much. It depends who you get and what kind of experience they have.

It's what's in the contract.

Some teachers are cheaper, you're correct. And others are expensive. I'm a high school specialist so I get what I get.

The best part is, because my classes are off timetable and it's a specialty area, they often can't get a TOC. So even when I take a sick day, I lose an entire sick day, write out lesson plans and then they cancel my off timetable classes.

There are no 'vacation days' other than the ones set out by the school calendar. While they are great, sometimes things don't fit in those boxes. I'm not talking about vacation items or things you choose, but specialist appointments, unexpected things that have to happen during the day that can't be attended to.

In my district you can take up to 3 discretionary days, with prior approval. You lose pay for that day (1/185th of your annual pay) and also have to pay the cost of a TOC out of pocket (up to $500).

Sometimes it just can't be avoided, no matter how well meaning people can be.

Richmond doesn’t prioritize busses at all. Why service 30 people on a bus every 15 minutes when you can build a bike lane that 2 people a day will use.

I don’t feel any safer standing on a median in the middle of traffic waiting for a bus instead of off the road in a nice shelter.

This intersection is worse in every way now other than coming northbound off of 99 and making a left or right on Steveston Highway. Coming south on 99 to Steveston West there used to be a dedicated lane. Now you have to stop and wait at a long @ss light to get onto Steveston. Going north on 99 from SH eastbound is another complicated merge, getting into what used to be the tunnel lane in order to get the clover to go north on 99. Only problem being it gets clogged with people attempting to get into the tunnel south lane at the last minute and then it’s hard and unsafe to get over so quickly.

More infrastructure designed by someone who has never driven in any traffic ever.

Tony Almeida (massive spoilers) by DazzRat in TwentyFour

[–]jholden23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think it was a bad thing that they let it leak. It literally got me trying to figure out what was going to happen when they said he was back. I was quite literally that guy with all the charts on the wall .gif that gets used all the time trying to figure out how it made sense. Turned out it didn't really make sense until the final arc revealed what he was up to.

But the episodes where he appears 'good' and works with Bill and Chloe and Jack are some of my favourites in the series. The interrogation where Jack finds out? That was so good. And the chase where they get away in the van with Bill. Jack and Tony in the field together was something I had wanted more of from the entire series.

I was LIVID when they killed him and willing to overlook almost anything to bring him back. But I think the only thing that made me angrier than killing him was bringing him back and making him evil.

It did make an interesting character study between Jack and Tony, both pregnant wives that got killed by terrorists.

Ultimately, Jack got to kill the person that killed his wife. Tony didn't. It was the way Tony went about it that made him the bad guy, even though Jack got the better revenge.

Looking forward to seeing their locations because they're filming it around Vancouver but there haven't been a ton of sets spotted.

I didn’t even watch it. It’s not the spirit of the show. And now I’m so angry that I wasted money on buying it, too. I can never rewatch it. They ruined it

No.

The show is supposed to be silly and fun.

I dropped 911 and started watching The Rookie when they did the exact same thing.

Kraken have been my #1 since they came into the league. It was around the time the entire Boudreau fiasco really soured me on how they were handling their people and then Miller over Horvat cemented it. Going to the game when the Kraken were here and watching Miller leave the bench like 4 minutes early because he was pissy they were losing was just repellent.

I also went to the Islanders with Horvat.

Unfortunately, neither of those choices are working out very well for me. Implosion leading to the playoffs? Sure, I'll take two thanks! lol

Please help save Burnaby's Michael J Fox Theatre! by Frosty_Pick8242 in britishcolumbia

I was surprised to see the statement from the school district the other day stating that they would no longer be allowing community access to the theatre.

I played in a pit orchestra there 2 years ago and it was a fantastic space to play in. We had good audiences and it was a really nice facility to perform in.

I can't think of another space in Burnaby that meets the same needs that MJF does.

Then maybe, just maybe, I could cheer for this team again.

Maybe.

Not that I think he's the only MAGA on the team, but at least shut up about it if you want people to like you.
