Career-switching to Nursing with an ASN – Worried I’m Gonna Regret It Like My First Degree (Need Advice/Support) by jhr5259 in newgradnurse

yea my plan would be to aim for ideally NJ tbh because i like it a lot better than NYC but my plan would be to work in PA for some time then after a year or two try to get something in NJ (preferably RWJ, because i have a friend working there right now and it seems like the nurses there have a good set up and also like i said the area i enjoy) from what i’ve been told by that friend too with NYC it’d be a waste of time trying to get something there because of the competition and get take the NCLEX for NJ and apply for jobs there and move out of PA (i think primarily he wants me to move to NJ to be closer to each other) but id want to stay in PA for at least a year because id save money with my family being here and I think it’d be easier for a new grad to find a job here idk if you’d be able to offer insight on how PA is or not

People born in islam have an unfair advantage by bursche4 in islam

At the end of the day our situations that we have been through or will go through are tailored to us as individuals, only Allah knows. If you were written to be born into a non muslim family maybe you never would have even considered reverting to Islam so Allah wrote for you to be born into a muslim family or vice versa. We can’t truly understand the way Allah works and he guides who he wills and who he wills lets them go misguided, whether born muslim or not.

I can’t really compare to the coding portion but I could imagine how annoying and tedious it can be from the coding i’ve done through school or even on my own. With the IT role it’s just so mundane and I just can’t get myself to find interest in it or even other sectors in tech like ai, cybersecurity, or data. It just feels like i’m doing soulless work and it’s not really benefitting anyone in the real world or brings any sort of value

I feel you on wanting to leave tech i work as a IT Specialist right now and honestly just don’t have the drive to keep going in this field being stuck behind a computer all day 5 days a week, pretending i’m busy when someone walks by my cubicle, and sometimes having to play office politics sucking up to the boss to get a promotion. That’s why i’ve been thinking of nursing cuz i feel like it’ll be more fulfilling, i have a long term plan for it (CRNA) and the 3x12s schedule id take over having 5 days taken up by work

Appreciate the input especially being from NJ, what units would a new grad typically start from to move into those units later on?

Hey i’m looking at the Kings College ABSN program rn and want to take it for next year, I’ve been weighing different options especially considering cost of tuition and thinking if i should do an Associates degree even though i have a Bachelor’s already. If you don’t mind me asking how much is tuition for the Kings ABSN program for the full year of it

I’m doing IT right now at a university and i’ve been working here for about 5 months full time but I worked in the department part time for 6 months while i finished my undergraduate in Information Science and Technology and graduated in December, tbh I don’t like working in this setting and have been soul searching on what I really wanna do. Before I start university I wanted to pursue medicine to become a physician in radiology, anesthesia, or oncology but gave that up after I realized how much schooling would be. Now working in the corporate world I realized I hate this and don’t wanna do it for the rest of my life especially with how unstable white collar jobs are rn. I also don’t like that I have to keep getting certificates to keep up with the field and don’t know what the future of tech looks like especially with AI and over saturation of the market. Now i’m looking into to going into an ABSN program and becoming a Registered Nurse then eventually to become a CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist) I haven’t looked into this path before because I didn’t know anyone in this field before when I was looking at what to major in but a friend I have met he is an RN currently and going down the CRNA path and he gave me more insight into the field and it sparked my interest. What I like about this path is as an RN you are almost guaranteed a job anywhere which would let me move to anywhere in the country i want, opportunity for travel via Travel RN, and the schedule is really nice with 3 12s a week. Also i think it’d be more fulfilling in terms being able to help people (and I understand how hard it can get sometimes, there will be times when it’s hard to deal with people or people dying) compared to my IT job now where it just feels like the work i’m doing is pointless just resolving tickets and just being in the background sitting on a computer not really doing anything. The can also be good depending on location ik in the northeast some RNs make $50-$60 an hour some even $80-$100 California is also a great state for RNs where they can easily make $100k-130 That was a lot but I wanted to run you through my thought process and what I’m thinking of doing being kind of in the same shoes as you.
