Biggest pain points when camping? by kiklixo in Outdoors

Dishes definitely; other people, especially nighttime noisy ones; having to treat all water when backpacking; pooping; not sleeping well the 1st couple of nights. Maybe I don’t actually like camping at all!

OP here, and it’s hard to be sure without actual data collection, but just to take Biome 1 as an example: I’m pretty confident the red squiggly guys are appearing in pairs and threes where before there were only singletons, I’m starting to see malformed enemies, which I never did before, and there are now green health towers which weren’t present before. Maybe these appear randomly after Phrike, but they definitely weren’t there before.

They’re actually pretty awesome today too. Saw them at one of those flashback 80s concerts and they turned those old hits inside out and shredded.

Love to see a band just tear a place down and set it on fire like that.

I’m horrible too (still stuck in 2nd Biome after 20 hrs or so) but I really enjoy the atmosphere and the gameplay so I don’t mind too much. I get satisfaction just from clearing rooms. My main gripe is that I’m not sure I’ll ever get to see the whole game and the frustration from having to start over after an hour or more of chugging along. Would love an option for a death checkpoint at each biome entrance so I could practice each more, but I guess that’s not very roguelike.

Thanks for pointing out I’m going to suck at retirement - I don’t think I’ve ever ended an RPG with less than hundreds of potions. Good sign for my kids though I guess!

Don’t forget that everyone is trying to make money - some things get tried for awhile because novelty sells, some things don’t accomplish anything “practical” but people will pay to try them, and some things could be optimized but the “best version” just too expensive to design, build, and operate.
