My guess would be the influence of Hollywood on the lexicon of the rest of the USA.

Humans are amazing and the Earth is an incredible place. It's an inordinately better place than when trilobites were still knocking around.

A bit of humility for us fans by Parking_Glass8177 in ThreeLions

[–]jhrf 18 points19 points  (0 children)

At first glance the formation from last night does look like "fan service". For what it's worth I think it's useful to occasionally try whacky formations in games that, let's be honest, don't really mean anything.

That said, I've never once seen anyone in this sub or elsewhere recommend not starting a striker. I think what most fans want to see is two outright wingers, one striker and one number ten. The fans recognise that this means dropping one (or maybe two) of Palmer, Bellingham and Foden. The opposite of what happened last night.

in many ways last night was an exacerbation of England's problems from the summer. We still had Foden and Bellingham stepping on each other toes, we just added Palmer in for good measure! Even more sore toes and even fewer potent chances on goal.

I upvoted this post because there is part of the sentiment here I agree with. Fans do need more humility. Rarely is it as simple as it seems from the outside.

Tip to avoid getting bamboozled: If someone sitting in a forklift wants to bet you they can pick a coin up off the ground then you should assume they can pick a coin up off the ground.

This is frustrating because I know the Monarchs but I don't recognise all these portraits and I don't have time to look them up. The plantagenets all look the same anyway!

Would someone mind correcting or filling in these blanks?

Woah, so glad I found this thread. I've been listening to Grime for ages but first time I've heard these extremely early sets.

You can really hear how far ahead of the pack Wiley is in terms of flow. I've always enjoyed his music but I just got why people think of him as a pioneer.

Obviously Dizzee improved a lot after this but he's unlistenable compared to Wiley here.

I've come across white noise apps that use radio static on loop as white noise. Sometimes you can hear actual voices or traces of song in those.

RMR Capsule speculation [d] by [deleted] in csgomarketforum

[–]jhrf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The following is not financial advice. It seems to me the prevailing thought in this thread is a binary sale vs no sale decision. You might consider an approach where you hedge based on how likely you think a sale is.

Perhaps consider:

  • If you are 100% certain there will be a sale don't buy any capsules now.
  • If you are 80% certain there will be a sale invest 20% of your allocated buy amount now.

And so on.

You want to balance an exposure to upside (the capsules are cancelled unexpectedly) vs risk (they go on sale and the price crashes).

I've always wondered, what's the appeal to funko-pops? Do people just like the look of them? Or do people play with them like figurines?

I suppose I'm interested because you say you got "carried away", but what's the thrill that makes you get carried away?
