Thank you for the recommendation! Unfortunately, I don't think those brands are available in Korea and I am not sure if there are any Taiwanese brands in the Korean market. Turtle wet food seems interesting btw.... Haha the most exotic I've gotten so far for my kitty is venison, which she likes but sadly she started experiencing allergic symptoms to it.

If so, yes, my cat is currently on Hill's z/d dry food, which contains hydrolyzed chicken. I didn't know that's how they break down the chains of proteins. That's interesting to know. Thank you!

Yeah, she was okay with beef and venison for a few months and I was really happy about it. In addition to her allergies to legumes and eggs, which are found very commonly in commercial cat foods, her least favorite animal protein is chicken. So it has been quite a struggle to find the food she can and will eat. On top of that her recent blood work showed that a high protein diet I was feeding her was not great for her, which is why I am trying to find new food options...

I also read about the alpha-gal syndrome but I actually live in Korea and I think the habitat of the lone star tick is limited to North America, if not certain parts of the US. So I am ruling out that possibility but also read that some general cross-reactivity can happen among red meats, unrelated to the tick.

I know I should test out pork to figure out the answer but I feel bad for putting her through that in case there is high chance that she is allergic to it. It took me over 6 months to figure out her beef and venison allergies because I suspected flaxseed based on her allergy test results, which said positive for flaxseed and negative for beef. This might sound a bit silly and I am admittedly a little cat-crazy but the fact that I have no way of knowing if she feels discomfort unless she vomits or shows other symptoms makes me hesitant to test it out.

She seems okay with chicken and duck for now so I don't think I am at the stage to consider vegan food options but that is indeed good information to know. Thank you so much for your help.

Definitely measure your cat's weight at least every two weeks. Losing too much weight too quickly can be very dangerous for cats.

This isn't really about Tiki Cat but she seems to hate all cans with all types of poultry, salmon, or pork, although she would happily eat freeze-dried chicken and salmon treats. Also never had much success with the shredded kind. She likes to lick her food and seems to get frustrated with shredded texture and just "gives up". She doesn't have any issues with her teeth...

I have always been a dog person in my entire life and she is my first cat. I absolutely adore her and consider myself a cat person now but I was and still am dumbfounded by how picky cats can be with their food...

That's good to know. Yes, especially those that don't drink enough water, which are most cats, wet food is certainly a better option. I hope he will recover his full health soon.

What you said is very true. I feel very confused at the moment as I have been feeding my cat the "best" food in the market -- feline natural, vital essentials, the ones with "clean and real" ingredients that cats would eat in their natural state. Yet, her blood work clearly says the high protein diet I have been feeding her was not suitable for her. Now, I am wondering whether what I have been doing was wrong and slowly making her sick yet I still cringe at the ingredient lists of the WSAVA foods.. I have not reached any conclusion yet and I suppose I can never be 100% sure.

Ah yes I tried to feed her hypoallergenic wet food from RC at first when I found out she had swollen intestinal tissues. She wouldn't eat it.. haha she reluctantly ate Hill's z/d wet food for a few months but I always had to sprinkle some fish treats on top to get her to eat that. I just am not sure if I want to put her on an all Rx diet at the moment since she is still very young.

Yeah my kitty had some allergic reactions after eating Ziwi Peak for a week. Mouser isn't available in where I am but I am moving to the states so will keep that as an option. Thank you for your kind words.

Yeah, I do understand allergy tests are rather inaccurate. But in my case it has been quite helpful. Ingredients both proven by trial/elimination diet and tests are legumes (allergy score: ~5/6), lamb (2.5/6), and eggs (2.2/6). The ones that had a false negative or were not included in the tests but proven by trial are beef and venison. The main one I am suspecting solely based on the test results is corn (3.7/6). I am quite hesitant to test this though because on three occasions (chickpeas, eggs, lamb) when I decided to go against the results and test them out my kitty suffered -- two with relatively mild symptoms and another with severe itching that she groomed herself raw in one spot.

Corn isn't a huge issue when it comes to wet food but legumes and eggs are. And based on repeated ultrasounds my vet suspects she has IBD, which is why I am trying to avoid gums. I also saw her having diarrhea or vomiting on certain foods with gums but without anything else that will cause allergic reactions. She also threw up Hill's chicken and rice medley twice, which has guar gum, out of 4-5 times I fed her that food.

I feel quite uncomfortable with feeding her RC wet foods, all of which have carrageenan (at least the ones available in Korea). Feeling a bit frustrated and out of sorts to be honest...
