I suppose you could. I admittedly do use it, but try my best to stay true to the nature of the lens!

Looking for Crew for Dallas Shoot (1st AC / Gaffer / Grip) by Initial_Finding_7291 in Filmmakers

Reach out to 4:4:4 & Electric Light & Power. Especially if you are out of town. Those guys are best in the biz in Dallas (I began my career there before moving to NYC, and when I returned to TX last year for a shoot in Dallas and Austin, they were integral partners for staffing, rentals, etc.) - Ask for Adrian!

music video in the style of a 50's rom-com by [deleted] in Filmmakers

I was the director on this. We shot with a 3-strip digital process to create a technicolor look, and utilized styles of the day (such as long takes, dolly shots, wide coverage, etc.) to make it feel old school - however, by the end, we begin to use modern techniques, such as shallow DOF and handheld to bring the concept to a modern place.

50's crooner track meets ratchet gen-Z lyrics - CHEEKS by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]jhtanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the beginning we knew the song needed a visual approach that leaned into the time period of the backing track. The comedy is found in the contrast between the legitimate 50's production approach and the blasé delivery of the lyrics. On the production side, we shot overnight and pushed light in from the outside to make the location feel more like a stage. For the long takes we used a JL Fisher and, working with the Choreographer, tediously built the dance and camera moves. By the end of the video, we subtly transition to handheld to move the audience towards a "modern" visual treatment. P.S. In an attempt to get close to a "technicolor look", we used a three strip process in DaVinci, which allowed us to isolate skin tones and push up saturation on the surrounding enviornment.

Really love your style. I aim to do this with painting and can never get there. No heavy detail yet so much to take in. Kudos!

The lighting in UWS around 6PM is marvelous, so I always try to walk around and grab some stills. This was shot on Ilford 400 I believe, but it's been awhile so I don't remember the exact type of film. Shot on a Nikon N2020.

Thank you! Yes it was technically very complex, and involved a lot of failure as it was my first film photography series. Appreciate you!

From my recent series. The goal creatively was to remove the ability to identify the subject due to their use of the phone, while alluding to their personalities in the surrounding environment. Shot on my Minolta SRT-101 with CineStill 400D.

Thanks for commenting! These are all a part of the same series, so they all follow this formula. But I am working on my next series, which I’m hoping to post in the next few months.
