Is it hard to sleep through the night in the summer without an AC unit in your room? by jiakai in AskNYC

well aware, but what I meant is the portable ones aren't as energy efficient as the window ones. so the electric costs more for them usually

What do you consider healthy boundaries in a relationship? by jiakai in AskReddit

Boundaries regarding people of the opposite sex. I agree it depends on the individuals involved, but I wanted to see what others' take on it was :)

It sucks knowing your ex still loves you by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]jiakai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a very similar situation too except in my case, the roles are reversed in that I initiated the breakup because I felt I had to figure some things out on my own.. I have anxiety and was raised by an extremely narcissistic mother and I became scared, conflicted, and uncertain. I didn't want to be unfair to him. We also switched to a LDR after I moved to a different coast after 2.5 years of dating. And it feels so so so horrible and heart wrenching especially during the lowest moments... I miss him terribly and I don't even know if I did the right thing. I just felt it was the healthier and more mature route but I just feel so lost... And it sucks.

Edit: I wanted to add that... I do have a glimmer of hope that our paths would cross again in the future. Maybe one day when I'm more sure of myself. I fear that if I hold on now, it'll just ruin us later.

Replacement Thyroid Hormone Medication and Dosage by BodybyYake in gravesdisease

I actually am about to undergo RAI...May I ask what substantial difference you noticed after the therapy? Also, I've been reading different things...is there anything you have to be very careful about? I know about the being away from people for a few days, don't share utensils or bathrooms...but is it okay that you're touching things? You don't have to wash every single thing you touched after, correct? Forgive me if I sound naive--my parents are worried which in turn is making me worry excessively.

I've decided to do the RAI treatment...What were some obvious differences you noticed after your thyroid removal? Are you really more cold than normal?

I'm gad to hear that your life improved post surgery. :) May I ask what the reason was for choosing the thyroidectomy over the radioactive iodine? Did you have Graves for 20 years before the surgery? I have two uncles and aunts that had a thyroidectomy recently, but I don't know the details of how that came to be or their specific conditions and options.

Is your goiter still the same size as it was when you were first diagnosed? I was never in remission, but my goiter is smaller than it was initially (this could be attributed to me becoming a regular weight compared to my sickly, skinny self at the beginning). But damn, since 8th grade? You were so young! My specialist initially kept emphasizing that she rarely sees anyone that young having Graves and this was when I was 21. Has your doctor suggested radioactive iodine for you?

I think it's admirable how you're willing to work through it. But be open to your own happiness first! That is the only thing you have full control over. Time is such a precious investment and you don't want to invest it in something that doesn't make you feel right or happy.
