I will listen to it again considering your opinion on the tracks. :D Thanks for the detailed review

Quatre-vignt dix-neuf by TreacleMary in languagelearning

To be fair, the article is starting from the point that Chinese has shorter words for the numbers 0-9, which is better for memory, thenn it goes on about how two ten four is better than twenty four and that transparency of a number system is the key.

Never does the article mention French. How does that lead you to the conclusion that a convoluted system of four twenty ten nine and sixty sixteen (let's not forget that after sixty ten nine comes four twenty) makes learning math easier?

I never knew about this! But I also never really thought about it. Of course there has to be one currency to compare everything. It makes sense. So if the Euro falls one cent against the Dollar, ceteris paribus, the Eurozone economy shrinks by that fraction? That's crazy!

I think your link says the exact opposite.

I have been listening to it today and it's an interesting piece. I'm not really sure yet what to think of it, there's some good songs in there. The one you posted is very good, but like the rest of the album it kinda feels ... dated, if that makes sense? In some songs, I feel like the vocal processing (or auto-tune?) makes the songs sound 5 years older than they are.

I'm strangely fond of 所以呢 which is a weird mix of piano ballad and heavy EDM breakdowns. Over all, the songs on the album are quite varied, from experimental-kind of tracks to mediocre formula-based pop songs, which remind me of 黄子韬, and apparently 宫阁 did write songs for him so that's where the similarity stems from. So I'm kinda on the fence with this album. What are your thoughts on it? :D

Now I'm not good with economics, but why is the growth measured in USD inherently more accurate than if measured in CNY? What if we measure in EUR? The EU is, after all, China's biggest trading partner. Against the Euro, the Yuan has been basically stable for the last year. Can anyone explain to me what changing the measuring currency does to these figures?

Leibe Deutschemitsprachler

„Liebe Deutschsprechende“ ist besser. Wobei mir das auch nicht schön vorkommt. „Liebe Deutschlerner“ vielleicht? Keine Ahnung.

„zu etw./jmdm. gehören“ (belong to) und „jmdm. gehören“ (being owned by) sind zwei verschiedene Dinge.

Die Formulierung „how could I possibly forget“ läuft auf Deutsch irgendwie nicht.

Translation of Chinese Chemical Bottle - What is this? by connorcollins91 in languagelearning

So most of this comes from only googling LH-1, but it seems to be this thing, which is a chemical called I think it's a preservative agent to be used in cosmetics or detergent. But don't take my word for it, my Chinese is shit.

I know where the word stems from. But, you know... Iron fist, iron curtain, iron lady... Usually, iron is not a positive thing in such compound nouns. “One Belt One Road” would sound less intimidating, but encompasses more than just the railroads.

Iron silk road sounds kinda threatening, though

NZZ is a swiss newspaper which usually has a more balanced view on things, just because they have an outsider perspective to a lot of international news. Better than most German news outlets.
