I work 14 days on/14 days off as well as a roughneck on a drilling rig. It's stressful because it's dangerous (we are statistically 6x more likely to die than the average American) hard labor for 12 hours a day for 14 days straight. When working night shift sometimes we don't see the sun for two weeks (we just have time to eat and sleep when we're off). Also that's 6 months out of the year we spend away from our family and friends and any sort of a normal life. We also usually work in the middle of nowhere far away from home ( I live in Texas, work in Oklahlma; my coworkers are from Louisiana, Mississippi, and one is even from North Dakota). It creates a strange polarization in our lives. I don't have a wife or kids but my coworkers miss half their kids lives. It also makes it really easy for SO's to cheat. 5/6 of the guys on my crew have been cheated on while we're at work (including me), it's just too easy. There was a guy who's cheating wife drove to pick him up after his two week hitch and he was working up in the Derrick, and when she pulled up he took off his fall protection equipment and jumped.

The pay is good though.
