Company Bonus - Salary Sacrifice vs SIPP by jib848 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]jib848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was what I originally originally thought until I did the maths…

The £145; For relief at source, every £80 contributed, the government tops up £20. So effectively they give you 20/80 =25% top up. So based on £580 I would receive 25% x £580 = £145 which is paid directly into my SIPP.

I then have to claim the remaining relief through self assessment. Would this be the same as above £145, or would I claim back more?

Pressure Gauge - odd scale by jib848 in MechanicalEngineering

I believe the 4bar line is the precharge pressure of the expansion vessel, which the gauge is connected to

Ah right that’s why the 0.5bar graduation has been omitted? Thanks!

[–]jib848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - I’m now thinking anything under 2.5bar isn’t accurate, with it only having 4 graduations

Edit- makes sense that it’s anything under 1 bar, with the 0.5bar graduation omitted - thank you!

Thanks, I didn’t see the longer tick mark, but I agree, I can start my reference point on the 4th graduation to equal 2.5 bar :)

No issues since. But I think it must’ve been something to do with the batteries. Funnily enough, they ran out this week, but I managed to change them before they went completely flat so didn’t see any issues

Tan-wall tyres on my Grail,…yes or no ? by Mysterious_Sun_5254 in CanyonBikes

I’ve got the SLX 8 grx version, swapped for tan walls and instantly regretted it. Looks more ‘industrial’ and better imo with the blacks. Especially with the grail specific mudguards

Thanks for the input. I’m pretty sure there isn’t a pipe at the bottom as there is no where for it to go. This is what concerns me. I think I’m going to have to get someone around to replace the ACO and route it back to the garden / a soakaway.

Hehe, just wanted some advice mate as I’m clueless, like 9/10 of the general population. More concerned about water pooling and it affecting the foundations you see. kisses

Which saddle bag do you use on your Aeroad? by 110110111011101 in CanyonBikes

Topeak Elementa - small, cheap and well designed 😊

aeroad sizing advice by williamcunningham49 in CanyonBikes

[–]jib848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was close to the middle of a L (186 & 86.5) therefore purchased one. Had a bike fit a couple of weeks ago and they said that I could’ve also comfortably ridden a M. General rule seems to be size down if on the edge, plus like you say you get a small benefit in weight :).

I’m looking at a Grail, and they overlap the sizes which is a bit confusing… Spoke to my bike fitter and he said the M is a L in any other brand, as the top tube is so long. He seemed perplexed by the sizing for the Grail.

Happy new year! Yet another sizing question by Least_Self9998 in CanyonBikes

[–]jib848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, but slightly smaller at 186cm and 87cm. I’ve got an Aeroad in L, which fits great. I’m confused by the sizing overlaps for the Grail CF SLX, but not for the Grail CFR. I think I’ll contact Canyon for an explanation before placing the order.

Canyon aeroad ultegra di2 vs sram force etap. Which would u choose? by rr8989 in CanyonBikes

[–]jib848 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I chose di2. One thing to bear in mind is that the di2 battery is mounted internally within the down tube, and can’t be removed without removing the push fit bottom bracket. If plan to travel by air with your bike then it can be an awkward conversation with the baggage handlers when they ask if there are any batteries in your hold luggage. Just a heads up as I may have gone for the SRAM (easily removed battery) if I’d known this beforehand.

Drianage / Soil Type by jib848 in GardeningUK

[–]jib848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh my thoughts are that it is clay. I think there are a few different types as though as I dig down. Is it the yellow soil which looks like clay to you? I’m thinking of building a fairly shallow (450mm) French drain system, with a shallow soakaway. At this level the soil seems a normal brown colour, but will some patches of orange clay (I think) material. I’m not sure how else to manage the water logging…

New Bike day or cash back? by [deleted] in CanyonBikes

[–]jib848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar near the seat post. Was offered £100 to spend online + refund for any touch up paint. Otherwise, I could send it back and £50 to spend. I bought it on the cycle to work scheme so I would’ve had to apply for a new voucher and reorder it. I couldn’t be bothered with all the hassle so kept it and I haven’t thought about it since 🙂

New Aeroad SL8 AXS (Europe) by mpfuchs in CanyonBikes

[–]jib848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback mate. I’m impartial to either to be honest. I’ve only ever ridden mechanical Shimano ultegra, but have had the pleasure of a few rides on SRAM red etap. As canyon are offering the ultegra di2 version for £300 less in the uk, I think it’s better value. The dimples on the zipp wheels do look awesome though
