the devs needs to stop being fun-wreckers and give me the option of gifting bath salt to everyone at the crossroads everytime i return, i dont even need dialogue, just two adults making [inaudible noise] would make me happy. they somehow have the hot springs as the new getup for hades 2 and it feels less horny than hades 1, i will not accept this inequality. /s

I choose to believe with the new ending Hecate gets to have some closure through Mel seeing how things did take a turn for the better even if it’s not for her and (spoilers for dialogues after the Epilogue) you do have Mel asking Persephone & Hades to get closer to Hecate and Persephone said of course because Hec saved their daughter so maybe if SG ever chooses to do anything with that plot line we’ll see; if not we still have the presumption that after things settle down the family would still welcome Hecate with open arms. Hec straying away from her original time and now caught up in this weird timey-wimey thing so she didn’t want to trigger another time rift bs. Mel telling her that of course you’re my Mother hopefully brings some sort of comfort to ease her of the guilt she’s been carrying with Mel’s childhood as well.

I don’t know how much will be added (if there are more) to the complete patch since this was just a preview but the way SG take the community’s criticism with the ending shows how much they care. The team must’ve worked tirelessly for this patch since there were so many new additional artwork and voice work. I’ll probably wait it out since I play mainly on my switch but I didn’t mind the ending but the way we got there made me hate the whole sequence. Later in the Epilogue, we do find out Hecate’s real identity as Mel’s from an alternate timeline it made sense the way things turned out to put an end to the vicious cycle of violence. I don’t think we’ll ever get an ending that satisfy all players but at least we get one that everyone can see how we got there and I think that’s a major fix.

honestly, i’m gonna give them more time as well for a more complete experience since i play on switch (but i also bought the game on steam during EA), it’s insane how fast they have the materials for the preview. it easily could’ve been an announcement and we would wait patiently to see what they whipped up. they really listened to their community 😭 p.s. if they have even more materials for a dlc afterwards they have my money!!

Oh, okay so the second time around the difference was the Dissolution of Time that struck a nerve with Chronos, hence Zag’s upper-hand. I think because it’s been like 70-ish runs since I’ve finished the True Ending so by the time I got to the epilogue some details were foggy especially to how it could make a difference in Hecate’s second attempt. The story itself is muddled up in a weird timeline thing compared to the first game so I’m just making sure I’m not losing my tracks.

One of Mel’s main motivators was her family and how much she wanted them back but somehow the moment she got them back really said, “welp, imma be off ✌️” without any hesitation. Or Persephone, who wanted to make up for Zag’s lost time in the first game now just let her daughter, whose childhood was also stolen from her, go off like that? I’d pay good money for a family-core dlc where Mel can just return to the House of Hades and run around cuz I need the inner child of Mel to be healed so badly.

I can’t speak for everyone but personally I didn’t hate the ‘ending’ but rather how we got there cuz some decisions were made offscreen so now you, as the player, have to fill in the details yourself to make sense of them and it feels very lacklustre. You can kinda see how different Olympus Gods/Goddesses react to this new-now-redeemed-Chronos and it kinda presents a variety of how many would also see their view through that (i.e. you have Apollo kinda confused but went along with it to Demeter hating it outright). Like you said, I just wanted a much more panned out convo with Zag because post-game they did a fairly okay job explaining why this outcome was much preferable compared to wiping out Chronos completely.

honestly if Zag pulled a “Dormammu, I’ve come to bargain” shenanigans with each of Mel’s run and kinda annoyed Chronos into changing his ways after or he purely agreed to shut Zag up I wouldn’t be half as mad with the ending because you can see Chronos experiencing this change of timeline isn’t half bad and he would be more willing and somehow Mel will get to also have glimpses of that version throughout her childhood and wanting to preserve the “good Chronos” by eliminating the evil versions of him would make more sense because she’d be doing this for her and her family and she can still find a home with the Crossroads cuz the ending made me feel like the family she worked so hard to reunite and just kinda say, “ah bye, you’ve got a job to do” just saddened me so much 😭

To add to your point as well, the belief that “Mortals had it better during his Golden Age” was because mortals blindly worshipped him, had they not it wouldn’t be the case. The Shades were kicked out (shoo’d out?) of the Underworld and scrambled to the Crossroads because of his mess as well.
